Tracking Notices on iPhone Seen in iOS 14.4 Beta 1

Tracking Notices on iPhone

Last week Apple released the first beta for developers of iOS 14.4, the next software update that the Cupertino company will soon release to iPhones. Recently a new privacy function has appeared that until now has not been seen, so it is understood that it has been added automatically without the need to launch a second beta.

Apps will ask you to track you on iOS 14.4

Screenshots of users with the iOS 14.4 beta installed recently appeared on the MacRumors forums. In these it could be observed how some apps such as NBA request the user permission to track their activity in order to improve the user experience and offer more personalized advertising. Until now this had been unprecedented, despite the fact that Apple already announced it several months ago. In fact, it is usually normal that not all the news ends up arriving in the first versions of an operating system and more when it comes to functions that application developers must work on.

The iOS 14 update and the successive ones that have been coming have brought us interesting visual and functional novelties, but they have also been loaded with improvements in terms of security and privacy, such as the one we are commenting on. However, this was not the only one, since since iOS 14.3 arrived last week we can obtain really useful information in the App Store about all the permissions that applications may require. In this way, the user is given the opportunity to be informed about what data the applications collect.

Until January, at least, we won’t have it

Apple’s update calendar is never official, although on many occasions you can guess. The company releases a major update a year for its devices, iOS 14 in September in the case of iPhones. Then, in successive months, intermediate versions such as iOS 14.1, 14.2, etc. are released. On occasion, a three-digit update (iOS 14.2.1) is ‘sneaked in’ as more or less urgent updates to cover security flaws or correct errors.

iOS 14.4

Among all these updates we find its previous beta versions and now we find those of iOS 14.4, which is still in the first version. Considering that the holidays begin today, it is very likely that Apple will take a longer time than usual for the rest of the year. Therefore it is possible that the final version of this software will not reach all users until at least mid-January, at which point it is expected that this privacy functionality will already be officially implemented.

We remember that all versions that happen to iOS 14 until the arrival of iOS 15 will be compatible with the same iPhone. Therefore, models 6s and later will be able to enjoy these updates.
