These controls turn your iPad into a portable console

Tablets are, since 2010, one of the best places we have to play games thanks to the good size of their screens, the adapted touch controls and the comfort of being a device that we usually carry with us (not to mention playing to Xbox Cloud on an iPad). Although there is a group of gamers who are reluctant to do so because they do not have physical controls with buttons and sticks with which to handle the action. Well, to all of them, tell them that they have run out of excuses.

A gamepad to play it all

The fact is that if this type of peripheral was quite widespread among mobile phone users, it has not been until relatively recently that a small number of companies have dared to do so with tablets. The reason must be found in the number of models available, with unique form factors that make it practically impossible to develop a gamepad that works for everyone equally.

With the iPad we cannot say that the same thing happens, but it is difficult to have a model that suits us both with the tablets that still have the old Home button on their front and with the latest generation Pro or Air devices, which barely have room on the edges to grab that accessory when we want to have a physical control to play.

Gamevice for iPad has come precisely to cover that gap with a gamepad that splits in two to leave on each side of the screen a portion of the physical controls necessary to play: on the left, a stick with a D-pad and two control buttons. Select and general use plus the L1 and L2 triggers on the controller; and on the right the second stick, the R1 and R2 triggers and the Start and A, B, Y, X buttons. The good thing about it is that, on top of that, it will not be necessary to always carry it connected like this, so we will simply have to remove it from the bag and hook it moments before starting the game. And the connection is immediate thanks to the Lightning connector.

This model is compatible with the fifth to ninth generation iPad models, the iPad Air 2 and 3, and the Pro model with a 10.5-inch screen. At the moment, the most recent 11 and 12.9-inch models seem to be left out, as well as the 2020 and 2022 iPad Air that adopt that front form factor without a Home button and have a USB-C charging port.

Turn iPad into a console

These types of accessories have recently gained ground in smartphone territory because, for the first time, it can be said that by connecting one of these accessories we turn our device into a real video game console. On an Xbox Series X | S, on a PS5 and, above all, on a powerful cloud gaming terminal.

Thanks to xCloud, Stadia, Geforce Now and Luna (when it arrives in Spain) we will have the opportunity to enjoy AAA releases included in services such as Xbox Game Pass, which offers more than 400 titles as standard that we can use on the tablet and continue the game on a PC or the console itself. All top-tier releases including Microsoft exclusives.

If you want to turn your iPad into a console, all you have to do is go for this Gamevice that is priced at $99.95 , that is, just over 93 euros in exchange.
