Something very interesting and quite instructive is to see which are the most used components by Steam users. It makes it clear that most users have systems with hardware that has been around for some time to play in 1080p. We have created the best possible PC according to Steam statistics and it costs less than 800 euros.
Steam statistics are very interesting, but they do have some drawbacks. We have to take into account that it maintains user data that has not been entered for years, so it is not completely realistic. Despite everything, it gives us interesting indicators of market movements.
We build a PC according to the most popular hardware on Steam
We have based ourselves at all times on the most common components among platform users. The setting corresponds to the most common resolution on the platform, which is 1080p resolution. With this team we can play eSports-type titles, such as CSGO, LoL, Fortnite and the recently released Overwatch 2 . These are the components:
Processor: Intel Core i5-11400F
According to Steam, the most common processor on Steam has a total of 6 cores and a base working frequency between 2.3-2.7 GHz. The cheapest processor that best fits according to this data is the Core i5-11400F. Said processor has 6 cores and 12 threads and in Boost mode it can reach 4.4 GHz. It does not include integrated graphics, which are disabled at the factory. This processor costs about 170 euros , but if we look, we can find it for about 140-150 euros.
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B560-Plus WiFi
We need a motherboard compatible with the chosen processor and we have found this very interesting solution. The ASUS TUF Gaming motherboard is a very good option for its great quality/price ratio. This motherboard has a PCIe Gen 4 x16 slot and a USB-C 3.2 Gen1 port , in addition to having WiFi 6 . Normally it costs about 160 euros, but on offer we can find this A SUS TUF Gaming B560-Plus WiFi for 140 euros .
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3200MHz
Steam statistics tell us that more than half of users use 16 GB of RAM. For this very reason we have chosen this Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2×8 GB) kit. This kit, although it is indicated that it is optimized for AMD processors, it works without problems on any Intel processor. It also offers us RGB lighting that we can manage through the iCUE software. Normally this kit costs 89 euros, but now we can find these Corsair RAM memories for 80 euros on sale.
SSD: Crucial P2 SSD 1TB
Within Steam statistics it is indicated that the usual capacity of hard drives is 1 TB. We’ve been looking around and the Crucial P2 1TB drive is a very affordable solution that gives us great performance. This storage unit offers us a reading speed of up to 2400 MB/s and up to 1800 MB/s . Normally this unit exceeds 100 euros, but on offer we can find the Crucial P2 for about 90 euros .
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB
Something very interesting is almost 7% of Steam users use an NVIDIA GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card . Unfortunately, it is discontinued in most stores, but on Amazon we can still buy the Zotac GTX 1060 6 GB for 200 euros, which is not a bad price. But, in Wallapop you can find it for between 120-180 euros without major problems.
Case: Tempest Umbra RGB White ATX Tower
We’ve been looking for an affordable, attractively designed, open-fronted tower PC. This Tempest Umbra with mesh front and three front RGB fans is excellent. Supports different formats of motherboards and graphics cards up to 310mm long. It has two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port. The usual price is 70 euros, but we can find this Tempest Umbra for about 55 euros on sale.
Power supply: Cooler Master MWE 650 Bronze
This equipment will not have a high consumption, for this reason we have opted for a solution that offers us good power and performance. This Cooler Master MWE has a power of 650 W and an 80 Plus Bronze certification. The biggest downside to this power supply is that it’s not modular, unfortunately. This Cooler Master power supply is priced at 71 euros , but we can find it on sale for about 60 euros.
Bonus: ASUS TUF Gaming VG247Q1A 23.8″ monitor
The most popular resolution currently on Steam is 1080p and this setting is intended for gaming at that resolution. We have not taken this monitor into account in the price, because you could already have it. We have been looking for a good gaming monitor and this ASUS TUF Gaming VG247Q1A 23.8″ seems excellent. It offers us a refresh rate of 165 Hz and is compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium . This monitor normally costs about 239 euros, but we could find this ASUS TUF monitor for 155 euros .
