The right Android translator depends on what you need to translate. Google Translate is a practical starting point for text, photos and conversations. Microsoft Translator is another option for supported conversation and offline-text tasks. DeepL is useful when you want to review wording in a copied message. Check your actual language pair and feature before installing several apps.
Compare by the job, not the language total

Prepare Google Translate for travel
Install the official Google app, select your languages and download the available offline packs over Wi-Fi. A language unavailable for download will not become available merely because it works online. Test a typed sentence with the connection disabled, then test any camera function you intend to use.
For supported Android versions, Tap to Translate can help with copied text in another app; its permission and background behavior may differ by device. Check Microsoft’s offline and conversation features
Microsoft provides downloadable Android language packs for supported offline text translation. Select a supported pack in the app before disconnecting. Its Android help explains the controls; the language table distinguishes text, image, speech and offline support. A large text-language list is not a promise that every language supports speech or downloaded packs.
Use DeepL when wording needs a second look
Paste a complete sentence into DeepL, set the language pair and check the output against the original context. Its mobile tools also support translating text from other apps through supported sharing or selection controls. Consult DeepL’s Android workflow. Do not treat it as a guaranteed offline conversation interpreter.
Keep permissions and subscriptions clear
Text translation does not always require microphone or camera access. Grant those permissions when using the corresponding feature. Cloud translation can send submitted text to a provider; use your organization’s approved service for confidential material. Check whether a paid feature or renewing trial is being offered before accepting it.
