You may know how the tailpipe system works, but you may not be aware of what gases originate there. Just because; All of them that we have in our car will tell us about the health of it, the engine, and its condition.
It is easy to check if the motor is OK
Certainly, checking the condition of a car engine is not an easy task. Only professionals can make sure that everything is in place exhaustively, although we as drivers can take a few steps to check that, in general, the condition of an engine is good.
In these, and beyond what we will find in the propellant itself, from the gases it emits throughout its life we can check what state it is in, how well it is and, above all, if anything needs to be done. type of adjustment or arrangement in it.
We are talking, in any case, about the colored gases from the exhaust pipe, the smoke that comes out of it and can give us a clue if it could be some kind of fault. However, it is best to go to a specialized center where they can determine what complication there is and how to solve it.
The colored gases coming out of the exhaust pipe
Some gases that are several and with different compositions, but those that are usually represented with a single formula. They arise due to poor combustion in the cylinder, due to high pressure in the cylinders and due to a bad mixture of the fuel.
Hence, they are more common in diesel engines than in gasoline ones, although their presence in the exhaust pipes of the latest engines is growing in recent times due to supercharging.
As such, and if everything is in order, the exhaust gases are barely visible through the tailpipe. However, if white, blue or black smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe, we are probably facing a fault.
We can easily distinguish them
This measurement of the car’s gases is what indicates the state of the engine, some colors of the exhaust smoke from which the fumes, toxic and harmful to the atmosphere, are one of the concerns of the manufacturers, who work continuously to reduce the emission levels.
- blue smoke. It could be because the engine is burning too much oil. It can be caused by wear on the valve guide seals or piston rings. It could also be due to a problem with the turbocharger.
- black smoke. It means that the engine is burning a lot of fuel. It may be due to problems in the engine air filter, injection sensors, injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
- If the smoke is white and coming out in small amounts , like strings, it is possibly due to a normal condensation buildup inside the exhaust system.
- If, on the other hand, the smoke is white and dense , it means that you are burning engine coolant. It can be due to problems in the head gasket, in the cylinder head or a possible crack in the engine block.
- If the smoke is gray , it may be because the car is burning oil, a faulty turbocharger, or a clogged or malfunctioning positive crankcase ventilation system.
At the same time, and to see the state of health of the car in general, we can also pay attention to the sound of the engine , checking if it works regularly or shows signs of fatigue, ‘cough’ or idling abnormalities, such as ups and downs.
