Some iPhone Features Not on the iPad

There are not so many differences between iOS and iPadOS that separate the iPhone from the iPad. However, there are some functionalities that are present in smartphones and that we believe would be worth having on tablets due to their usefulness on a day-to-day basis. In this article we review some of them.

OLED screens for iPad

Some iPhone Features Not on the iPad

Apple resisted adopting OLED technology on iPhone screens until they debuted the iPhone X in 2017. This was later followed by the iPhone XS, XS Max, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max. In fact, this year the brand is expected to launch four different models and all of them have screens of this type, although they may have different resolutions.

The big problem with these screens is the saturation of colors in some cases, but Californians have known how to instruct their OLED suppliers well to balance this aspect, leaving screens with a high degree of color realism. The panels that mount the iPad like the ‘Pro’ models are really great, even having refresh rates of 120 Hz, however we think that adding OLED technology would be the icing on the cake to a device that is already near perfect hardware.

Measure battery health

We enter a swampy terrain and from which even in the Apple Store they detach themselves on some occasions. We refer to the battery health indicator that we find in the iPhone settings. This percentage is not always faithful to the reality about the state of the battery, but it helps to know how the deterioration of it is being. In the iPad however there is no such option, something that is very shocking seeing how the future watchOS 7 will be able to measure the health of the Apple Watch battery. Perhaps Aplle wants to avoid more headaches for the user, but having an approximation of these levels never hurts.

Moveable widgets across the screen

Widgets iPadOS 14

Possibly the greatest novelty in iOS 14 is to redesign the widgets and allow them to be incorporated anywhere on the screen in true Android style. On the contrary, in iPadOS 14 we will not see such a novelty, at least for now. It is true that the widgets for these teams have also been redesigned, but it is still impossible to move them freely and we have to settle for having them on the left of the screen with the floating widgets tab that was already added in 2019.

Automatic ordering of apps with the App Library

Biblioteca de Apps iOS 14

Also known as the App Library, the App Library is another of the great news that we will see soon on the iPhone and that we will not have on the iPad. This is located in the final part of the right of the application windows and orders all our apps automatically using artificial intelligence. In fact, it is even possible to delete apps from any screen without having to uninstall them, as they can still be stored in the aforementioned library.

Having this on the iPad could also be very useful to free up space on the main screen and access an automated ordering of applications. If we take into account that Apple tablets are increasingly used as a computer, this becomes even more relevant. We do not know if, like widgets, it could arrive in a version after iPadOS 14, but for now we know that it will not be at the beginning.
