Like any other electronic device, there will come a time when our smartband needs a good wash. However, we will have to proceed in the correct way so as not to damage your strap, the screen or the module of the same. For this reason, we are going to see how to wash a smartband correctly.
Keep in mind that our smartband is in continuous contact with our body. There are users who even take it off to sleep as most are able to monitor their sleep. They are generally used while doing sports, and are also in contact with the outside, so a good wash will be mandatory sooner or later.
Tips for cleaning the smartband
But even if the bracelet does not seem to be dirty, it may be that a discomfort or irritation on our skin is a symptom that residues or dirt have accumulated. At this point, it is best to leave the wearable as new by cleaning it thoroughly. However, we will have to take into account some very clear guidelines, since even though our model is waterproof, not everything goes.

Clean module and belts
It is advisable to clean our wrist and the strap of the bracelet after exercising or sweating. We can do this with a soft cloth, as long as it does not release lint. If possible, it is best to separate the module from the belt for better cleaning separately. If the module or the bracelet contain stains or dirt, we can use a toothbrush with soft and slightly moistened bristles, to rub until they are completely removed. When finished, we must dry the module and the strap until they are completely dry.
Clean the charging connectors
Similarly, it is important to clean the charging connectors of the bracelet. These can be valid for wireless charging or in a charging dock, but in both cases it is convenient to clean them from time to time. If we don’t, the passage of time and corrosion caused by sweat and humidity could cause rust to make an appearance.
In this case, it is best to use a cotton swab lightly soaked in alcohol and gently rub these connectors. Subsequently, we must dry the area with the same mild year that we have mentioned above and never charge the bracelet if there are still traces of moisture after cleaning.

What should not be done
Similarly, it is very important to avoid certain cleaning products and habits. Although they are valid for other electronic products , they are not recommended in this type of wearables. It must be clear that any error that we comment in this regard, will leave us outside the official manufacturer’s warranty. Products to avoid when cleaning are:
- Chemicals: such as cosmetics, sunscreens, antibacterial spray, hand cleaners, detergents, or insecticides
- Soap, cleaning agents, abrasive materials, or compressed air
- Do not use ultrasonic waves or extreme heat sources
- Do not use high pressure water
- Do not clean with salty water even if it is resistant through IP certificates
- Do not clean with ionized water
