We are all aware that Samsung is one of the global leaders in the mobile device market, alongside Apple. Consequently, it’s common for both companies to keep an eye on each other’s moves and innovations. So, it’s not surprising that Apple appears to have caught the attention of Samsung with its recent mobile gaming platform.
Samsung is actively exploring new business opportunities to diversify its revenue streams, particularly as growth in the smartphone market has slowed down in recent months. The South Korean tech giant sees the gaming aspect of its smartphones as an avenue it hasn’t fully explored yet, and it holds significant long-term profit potential. As a result, Samsung has launched its new free games platform, currently in beta, integrated into its Game Launcher.

According to the Korea Economic Daily, Samsung is gearing up to unveil its own cloud gaming platform on October 5th, just a few days away. However, some users have already had a taste of it as it appeared in the brand’s gaming app during the beta phase. Unlike similar services offered by NVIDIA and Microsoft, Samsung’s cloud gaming platform is primarily focused on mobile gaming, at least in its initial release.
The service will be directly accessible within the Game Launcher app, which comes pre-installed on Galaxy phones and tablets by default.

How It Differs from Apple Arcade
Apple Arcade is a subscription service that grants access to a wide array of exclusive games across Apple devices. For a monthly fee, users can enjoy an extensive library of games without ads or in-app purchases. Additionally, subscribers can share their membership with up to five family members and download games for offline play. Apple Arcade features games spanning various genres, including adventures, puzzles, sports, and strategy.
Samsung’s approach is somewhat different. The company’s cloud gaming platform aims to skip a significant step that might not sit well with Google and Apple—gamers won’t need to download or install games on their phones. Furthermore, all titles available on the platform are expected to be free and won’t require a subscription, at least initially.
Rumors suggest that Samsung is currently in discussions with several game developers to bring their titles to its upcoming cloud gaming platform. It remains unclear whether the game streaming service will eventually introduce a monthly subscription fee. The information available so far indicates that Samsung won’t charge Galaxy users to play any of the games on its cloud gaming platform. Additionally, it’s unclear whether the platform will be exclusive to Galaxy devices or if Samsung will make it available to all mobile phone users.”
