We are almost at the gates of 2021, and Samsung has prepared the machinery of the Galaxy S21 family. This, as is usual, means that previous generations can be even more interesting, due to their price drops. The Galaxy S10 is still an excellent high-end terminal , and a great option to buy right now. For that reason, we wanted to make a comparison with one of its best-selling brothers, such as the Galaxy A71.
There are several months of difference between the launch of both devices. Recall that the Galaxy S10 was presented in February 2019, while the Galaxy A71 was unveiled in December last year. Now, both are at a better price than ever, which makes the purchase decision more complicated. Obviously, we are facing two brothers, in the high-end and mid-range of the same company, but we will see if the differences are so notable.

Screen and dimensions
The Galaxy A7 sports a huge 6.7-inch screen, with FullHD + resolution and a screen / frame ratio of 87.2%. On the front it has a hole to house the selfie sensor, and it is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The Galaxy S10 for its part, has a more restrained size of 6.1 inches, with QHD + resolution and a screen / frame ratio of 88.3 %, protected with Gorilla Glass 6. The aspect ratio is also different, being somewhat more panoramic in the A71 with its 20: 9 compared to the 19: 9 of the S10.

In terms of weight and thickness, the A71 is slightly thinner at 7.7 millimeters versus 7.8mm for the Galaxy S10. However, the weight is on the side of the S10 with its 157 grams, stop at the 179 grams of the A71. Exynos vs. Qualcomm
In the performance section, we do find appreciable differences when we want to ask the most of each device. The Galaxy A71 manages to reach 265,000 points, while the Galaxy S10 reaches 415,000. This difference will not be very noticeable in day-to-day tasks, but it will be when we need more power in games or more aggressive tasks where the processor must perform at maximum power.
Big difference in cameras
In the section of cameras, there is a lot of difference in numbers and sensor capacity, which on paper give the Galaxy A71 an advantage. This terminal has a 64 megapixel main sensor, a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle and macro and depth sensors of 5 megapixels each. For its part, the Galaxy S10 has three cameras, with two 12-megapixel wide-angle and telephoto sensors, and a third 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle.
On the front and each one inside its corresponding hole, we find a 32 megapixel selfie sensor on the Galaxy A71, and 10 megapixels on the Galaxy S10. The two terminals can record video in 4K resolution, but at a maximum of 30fps on the A71, and at 60fps on the Galaxy S10.
Connections and battery
As for the connections, the two terminals keep the 3.5mm jack for headphones, in addition to having a fingerprint sensor under the screen. The two move with Android 10 although they will make the jump to Android 11 and One UI 3.0. However, if we look at the battery, we see that the Galaxy A71 has 4,500 mAh and a fast charge of 25W , compared to the 3,400 mAh of the Galaxy S10 and its 15W charging speed. To compensate, the S10 offers more charging technologies like wireless charging or reverse charging.
How are they priced?
Price may be the final trigger in this comparison. At this time, we can buy a Galaxy A51 for about 340 euros on portals such as Amazon. For its part, the Galaxy S10 has dropped to 526 euros , since it is about to have two generations above. We are talking about a difference of almost 190 euros between both devices. By opting for the Galaxy A71, we will have attributes such as more battery, more powerful cameras and battery with more capacity and technologies. The S10, for its part, continues to offer the power of the high-end that it is, although it loses steam over time. The good news is that it is very possible that you will see Android 12 running through your veins, as part of Samsung’s new update policies, something that many users will take into account.
