Samsung has the best trio of phones on the market, consisting of the Galaxy S21, the S21 + and the S21 Ultra . These smartphones offer great photographic capabilities, great performance, an iconic design, and a battery that has unfortunately been weighed down by some poorly optimized system updates.
The technology firm recently released an update for the 3 phones but shortly after that, several users of the model powered by an Exynos processor, that is, the one we can buy in Spain, began to report alarming battery consumption problems.
Several users of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series reported on the Reddit and Samsung community forums that they have encountered major battery drain issues after updating their smartphones with the latest update. Some of those affected found that putting the phone in airplane mode solved the problem, indicating that the problem had something to do with data connectivity.
Fortunately, the firm has not taken too long to solve them.
Fixing the S21 battery problem
Now the South Korean giant is releasing a new software update, identified with the version number G99xBXXU1AUB6 that comes with the latest security patch of February 2021. It comes with improvements in general performance, security and camera and although the company does not It explicitly mentions it, the update apparently comes with a fix for the battery drain problem , as we can read on XDA Developers.
After setting up 3G only, I unplugged the phone for the last 22 hours with 1 SOT and 1 Antutu test run (which took some percentages off the battery) and I’m at 70%. The Edge browser also appears to have worked in the background despite setting it to deep sleep. Removing it would probably produce even better battery life, but I have to find a better browser. To be honest, I didn’t get that good of battery life before the update.
The new update to One Ui, the brand’s Android 11-based customization layer, is being rolled out little by little, starting with those based in the UK, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany. Since in Spain we also work with the S21 with an Exynos processor, this software should be available in the next few days.
If you want to check if the update has already arrived on your smartphone , you just have to access the mobile system settings and look for new update packages.
