Windows 10 is about to change. Microsoft is working on what will be the biggest update to the operating system to date. 21H2, the fall update this year, will be known as Sun Valley, and will begin a new, much more mature stage of the operating system. However, most users feel a special nostalgia for Windows XP , the mythical, and now obsolete, operating system from Microsoft. Since 2014, this operating system stopped receiving support and updates, and its market share is minimal. But what would have happened if XP arrived today? How would it be?
We have already seen on several occasions how the remastered versions of the main operating systems could be. These usually bring many functions and features of Windows 10 keeping the best of the previous versions of the system, such as XP and 7, in addition to copying features and aesthetic details of its rival, macOS.
On this occasion, the designer AbdelRahman Sobhy brings us an interesting concept about what a remastered Windows XP would look like in 2021. A concept that, although not real, will fill more than one with nostalgia and will make you remember better and simpler times.
The new concept of XP brings the current to the classic
The first thing we will find after starting this new operating system will be a new lock screen that, although it still maintains the essence of the classic XP is clearly much more modernized and cared for. This lock screen is supported by Cortana and has nice transitions at login. Could we see Windows Hello in this XP? It is likely, although the designer has not thought about it.
The start menu is back to basics. If we have ever used XP, we will surely miss its classic start menu, a menu that returns (although somewhat changed and improved) to this remastered edition.
Another aspect that has changed and has been improved is the file explorer . This has a much more modern look, with tabs, and is designed to make use of the cloud and network drives much more comfortable. The truth is that changing the XP file explorer would be a mistake. It would be nice to see it with tabs, but such a radical change would break with the essence of that OS.
Personalization is very important in the Microsoft operating system, and surely more than one misses the themes of this OS. The designer has thought about them and has decided to include them. We can choose between the original theme, olive green , silver and, of course, a dark mode.
This system would have a new action center divided into two parts. The first one a notification area for the programs, and the second a section from which to activate or deactivate functions of the operating system.
Many modern elements that have been implemented respecting the essence of the system. Everything perfectly integrated, and running smoothly, just like the original XP did.
Download Windows XP 2021 Remastered
As much as we have liked this concept and want to install it right now on our PC, this new Windows XP 2021 is not real . It is nothing more than a concept created by a designer on what a re-released version of the operating system could look like.
There is no download link. Neither is it a theme or a set of settings that give the original XP that aesthetic. And, of course, it is nothing official from Microsoft. The harsh reality is that Windows XP is already discontinued, and Microsoft wants nothing to do with it, it only has its eyes on the future of Windows 10.
