Realme 6 Pro: Review and Opinion of Cheap Phone

The Realme 6 Pro has just arrived on the European market. A disembarking phone loaded with a set of features that allow it to compete at the highest level within its range. I have been testing it in the days leading up to its launch and today I am going to show you the main keys you need to know so that you know it thoroughly .

The key points of the new Realme 6 pro

This is one of the newest members of the Realme 6 family. A range that promises to become the company’s new best seller.

It has a design very similar to that of the latest realme releases, such as the realme 6 itself or the realme X50 Pro. And this is true for both good and bad. On the front we find a panel that does not have a notch or a periscope camera. In this case we have a hole in the screen that hides the double front camera of which I will tell you more details later.

It is a 6.6 ″ FullHD + panel that, although it does not have a higher resolution such as 2K or 4K, it looks quite good and with very correct colors. And the calibration of the screen, which complies with the DCI-P3 standard, has a large part of this responsibility . In addition to having OSIE technology , which improves the colors, contrast and clarity of the images that are reproduced on this panel.

Of course, despite the fact that the panel looks very good, something that I don’t really like is the shadow that is generated around the hole on the screen. This may not be dramatic for many but you will allow me to become a perfectionist in this regard.

Turning now to another aspect of the design, the realme 6 Pro has a fingerprint reader integrated in the unlock button like the rest of the new realme 6 range does. A reader that works perfectly, without any problems and with recognition very fast. The same experience that translates to facial recognition . Something that I already told you when I tried the X50 Pro and that I reiterate myself in this model. It may not be the safest recognition on the market, but it works incredibly fast in virtually any situation.

The back is identical to the latest releases of the brand. In it we find an “S” shaped finish that, depending on the inclination with which we look at it, will vary its appearance. A pretty and neat design but, despite this, it has two negative aspects : the hump of its camera module, which makes the phone move when resting it on any surface, and the glossy finish is a magnet for fingerprints . Although both problems can be solved by putting a case like the one that the realme 6 Pro includes in its box when you buy it.

The 6 cameras of the realme 6 Pro

And, speaking of this module, it is time to move on to the photographic section. This new member of the realme catalog incorporates a total of 6 cameras in its body:

  • A dual front lens: a 16 mp wide- angle sensor with f / 2.0 focal length and an 8 mp ultra-wide-angle sensor with f / 2.2 focal length and a 105º viewing angle.
  • A 64 mp primary and focal f / 1.8 (26 mm) lens.
  • An 8 mp wide angle , f / 2.3 focal length and a 119º (15.7 mm) aperture.
  • macro of 2 mp and focal f / 2.4, to bring them up to 4 centimeters from what we want to photograph.
  • A 12 mp telephoto lens , with f2.5 focal length and 5x zoom, which goes up to 20x with hybrid zoom.

All these details, numbers and characteristics are very good, but how does it behave on a day-to-day basis? Well, although the photographic performance is difficult to assess due to the special circumstances we are experiencing right now, the truth is that I liked the result of these cameras a lot.

When the light conditions are good, the photographs that we can take with all the lenses are correct both in terms of color representation and in the sharpness of the results. The macro may be the one that does not manage to leave us with high quality results, but does its job. Although the sensors that have surprised me the most in this regard are the two main ones: both the rear camera and the selfie camera. Sharpness, contrast, and colors are very good and many phones in this range would like to see similar results.

Especially in the case of the selfie camera, which usually tends to lose a lot of quality compared to the main one, but on this phone it behaves very well. Of course, I did not like the wide angle of the selfie camera so much, the truth. It contrasts too much and the loss of sharpness is noticeable considerably. So, if you can match the selfie with the main one, you will have a better quality capture.

Then, when the light conditions worsen, the quality of the results also falls. It is true that the angle of the rear endures the type a bit but, you should not expect great photographs with a night photo. Although, to solve a little this type of scenarios, realme has updated its night mode to Nightscape 3.0 . It is true that they have improved a lot in long exposure shots and, making use of it, we can get to capture light where there is not. Something to keep in mind is that you will always need a surface or a tripod to support the phone so that the photos do not come out blurred.

The ins and outs of realme 6 Pro

As for the experience using this smartphone on a daily basis, the truth is that everything works perfectly. Inside it hides the Snapdragon 720G , making it the first phone to include this powerful processor with 8 GB of RAM . With this set of hardware the phone behaves very well no matter what you do. Whether you are going to watch series, or if you want to use it browsing the internet or watching social networks. Even when we ask for maximum performance, the feel is ultra fluid.

This feeling is produced, in addition to its components by the processor and RAM, thanks to the fact that the screen has a refresh rate of 90Hz . Something that gives the feeling of floating through its menus, options and transitions.

Before going through the software section, I would like to comment on two aspects that I highlight a lot about this smartphone. On the one hand there is the 30W fast charge with which the realme 6 Pro is compatible. In just 30 minutes we will have 60-70% of the 4300mAh that the battery of this phone has. And, in one hour, we can reach 100%. It is not perhaps the fastest charge on the market but, for my use, it seems to me to be at an excellent level.

And, on the other hand, although it is something that many other smartphones have, this new member of the realme catalog has IP protection against splashes . So we gain extra peace of mind when using the smartphone.

Realme UI: yes to customization, not to pure android

In this realme 6 Pro we are at the manufacturer’s customization layer, realme UI , which runs on Android 10 . Little can I tell you about the software on this phone that I haven’t already told you about.

The realme layer includes a good set of menus and settings which, for lovers of personalization, will be the most suitable option. But, despite the fact that everything works well and without any fluidity problems, if you want an experience as close to pure Android as possible, this should not be your choice. Of course, little by little the layer of realme is improving with each update and I am sure that the day will come when they will polish the details that their users request.

Realme 6 Pro price and availability

Now that you know the keys to this smartphone, it’s time to talk about when and for how much it will be available for purchase. The realme 6 Pro will go on sale today May 5 at a price of € 329, and will be available in a single model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Seeing everything that this smartphone offers and for the price that will be available, it becomes a great bet to keep in mind if you are thinking of changing your phone. Realme is still struggling to compete in one of the most complex ranges on the market, but with this realme 6 Pro you have a great workhorse.
