Realme 5 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro

Given the huge offer available, it is normal for many users to doubt when buying a smartphone or another. The number of terminals is wider than ever and it is not easy to find the key between so many different brands, models and prices. Today we wanted to compare the Realme 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, two terminals that are undoubtedly very sought after by those looking for a solvent mid-range and at a good price.

The first thing that draws attention is that both terminals have a similar design, with a size that reaches 6.5 inches in the two terminals and that they wear a drop-shaped notch to house the front camera. However, there is a big difference in resolution, since the Realme 5 stays in HD +, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a FullHD + panel.

If we take a look at the weight, we see that the two phones practically do the same on the scale, with 198 grams in the case of Realme and 199 grams in the Note 8 Pro. The thickness is smaller in the Xiaomi terminal with its 8.8 millimeters compared to 9.3 millimeters of Realme 5.

Very different processors

When we lift the hood we see two very different processors. The Realme 5 has the Snapdragon 665, a processor that is more than compliant, but that is gradually being far from the most advanced models.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a MediaTek Helio G90T , which although it is true that it has not been removed from a certain controversy, it is performing at a high level as one of the quintessential mid-range gaming processors.

The Realme 5 arrives with 4 GB of RAM while the Xiaomi terminal reaches 6 GB of RAM. In both cases we found 128 GB of internal memory expandable by microSD cards.

Ten cameras between the two

When we turn them around, we see four cameras in each device, including wide angle, macro and depth sensor. The big difference is that the main sensor of Realme 5 is 12 megapixels, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro is 64 megapixels . The front sensor for selfies is 13 megapixels in the Realme 5 and 20 megapixels in the Note 8 Pro.

And the battery?

Although they move with Android 9 Pie, both terminals are candidates to receive Android 10 with their different layers of customization during 2020. In the battery section, the Realme 5 takes the palm with its 5,000 mAh compared to 4,500 mAh of the mobile from Xiaomi. Both support fast charging, being 10W in Realme and 18W in Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Prices and conclusions

At the moment there is a difference that exceeds 80 euros between the two terminals. The Realme 5 Pro can be purchased at the moment for 149 euros, compared to the 233 euros that the Redmi Note 8 Pro now costs.

If the goal is to have a modern mobile phone, with four cameras, achiever and performance, but rushing to the maximum the price, the Realme 5 Pro should be our option. On the contrary, if we can save the difference of those 84 euros , we will have more power and more photographic capacity with the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
