Always On Display allows phones with OLED screens to show important information such as time, date, battery percentage and notifications, even when the screen is off. The AOD function is present in previous versions of EMUI, and with EMUI 10 came a new colorful design that improved the user experience with new styles and options. In EMUI 11 we can customize the AOD with our own designs and this is how it is done.

What we are going to do is use a photo from the reel of our phone as an image of the Always On Display just as if we put it as a home or lock screen background. Of course, the process is quite different and you must follow the following steps

To change the image of your AOD you must open the Settings panel and locate the Main screen and wallpaper options. Inside here you will find all the menus and functions that will allow you to change the look of your phone. To change the AOD image , select the Always show on screen icon.

Here you have, first of all, the switch that enables the function on your phone. Activate it to be able to customize it by clicking, then on Screen Style.

Here you will find the different Always On Display models already predefined, the images you can use, the type of text, etc … To use a photo from your phone, simply click on the first icon and click on the screen that opens, select Change image . This would open your Huawei photo browser and allow you to choose the image you want to use to star in your AOD from among the different albums.

Simply choose the desired photo and accept by clicking on the V-shaped “tick” that is housed in the upper left corner

Since the Always On display of EMUI 11 only supports the circular format, now we have to fit the photo on the template that appears on the screen to adjust it as much as possible. When you have done it, at the bottom you can choose if you want the always-on screen of your Huawei to also show the date and time or notifications and battery alerts.

When you have selected the image and the data to show, you just have to click on apply and that’s it. When you turn off the mobile screen and press the screen, the image you have chosen will appear superimposed to give another touch to the AOD of your smartphone .
