The PS5 DualSense Controller is Now Compatible with Steam

DualSense PS5

The new PS5 DualSense controller is now compatible with the Steam client . That means that if you get the new Sony console, you can use its gamepad when playing its PC titles. The only downside for now is that this is initial support, so there are limitations.

Steam now supports the PS5 DualSense controller

Valve announced that its Steam client is now compatible with the new PS5 DualSense controller as of its latest beta. This is great news for all those users who until now used to use the remote of their console with control for certain PC games.

The only problem, although on the other hand it is totally understandable, is that at the moment the latest beta of the Steam client offers initial support . That, as you can imagine, does not mean another thing that there will be aspects that do not work and it may take a long time until they do it in the same way as in the Sony console.

For example, everything related to the trackpad integrated in the device, the haptic vibration system and another of the star features of this new version of the gamepad, the adaptive triggers, do not currently work. Which in part is not that it is a big problem either as it is something that even some PS5 titles have not yet added.

However, the good news is that this is just the beginning. In a matter of weeks or months, all this could change and improve remarkably, allowing each and every one of the PC users who play through Steam to be able to enjoy the advantages that this game control provides. As long as developers also start to take advantage of these potential benefits when creating new games.

Finally, we must also comment that a few weeks ago we learned that this new controller is compatible with Android devices, that it can also be used using BT adapters for Nintendo Switch and that it will also be used with iOS devices.

New PS5 Dualsense or Xbox Series X gamepad?

Although the new PS5 controller begins to receive support on platforms other than Sony’s, for many the only controller to consider when playing on PC, Android or iOS will be Microsoft‘s own. And it is understandable that this is so.

Without denying that the issue of adaptive triggers or haptic vibration are very striking things and that both the design and the grip have been improved, the Microsoft remote maintains that high valuation among users . And by not having major changes, it is already perfectly compatible with devices where the previous model with Bluetooth already was.

But hey, since everyone has their own tastes, the important thing here is that as a user you have the option of choosing the one you like the most. And if that’s the one for the console you decide to bet on, then even better. Because it is not that I am going to buy you several controls just to use them on one or another platform.
