The Nintendo Switch is one of the best consoles we can have today and with an extensive catalog of games and titles of all themes and for all audiences. But it is usual to hack the Switch to download games without paying for them. Beware of risks and dangers. Hacking the Switch can have bad consequences for you and for the console and we see what can happen to you and what you can lose if you do. Before doing so, think if it’s worth it.
It is tempting, for many, to know that they will be able to download as many free games for Nintendo Switch whenever they want. But hacking the Switch not only has advantages and there are quite a few problems in which you can get involved: bans and much more inconvenience that will make it less interesting to play.
Disable your console
The first problem you may have when hacking the Switch is that you do it wrong. And this could irreparably spoil the console and you can not play anymore. In the case of having hacked the console, not only may you do it wrong during the process but you will simply be forcing it to do something for which it is not programmed, intended or designed. By altering the software or hardware, it is possible that there is any error and that a fault occurs that does not allow you to play with it anymore.
The warranty is voided
If you have broken your console during hacking, you will not be able to get it fixed because you will lose all the right to the warranty. The warranty of your Nintendo Switch is voided at the time you hack it and you will not have the right to have it repaired or a replacement in case it breaks.
In the event that hacking the Switch has been good for you and everything works correctly, you will not be entitled to repair or replacement, whatever the fault. That is, if at any time you have any problem in the two years of warranty offered, you will have to solve it yourself or fix it in an unofficial workshop. But Nintendo will not take over the console if it is hacked.
It is clearly explained in the first exclusion point of the Nintendo Switch commercial warranty : “This warranty covers the Nintendo console, including the original software loaded into the internal memory of the respective Nintendo console at the time of purchase and all remote included in the console packaging. For the purposes of this warranty, the Nintendo console, the Nintendo System Software and the Nintendo Controls are referred to as the Product as a whole. (…) EXCLUSIONS FROM THE COMMERCIAL WARRANTY. This commercial warranty does not cover: software (other than the Nintendo System Software) or games (whether or not they were included with the Product at the time of purchase) ”That is, forget the warranty if the software is not the that came installed.
Goodbye Internet
The above may be minor problems that you may encounter when hacking the Switch or that you do not worry because you know perfectly well how to do it or you are certain that it will never spoil you or that it is no longer under warranty. But the third of the problems is the most annoying: you will not be able to access the Internet anymore. If you are going to hack the Switch and you are going to use local mode, you will not notice anything. But if you connect to the Internet with the hacked firmware, Nintendo might be able to detect it and ban your console so you can never play online again or access the advantages online.
It is not automatic that it happens to you but it is more than probable that the company ends up detecting this thanks to the fact that each cartridge or game has a code and if the same code is repeated again and again on consoles around the world, Nintendo will be able to locate all users who have hacked the Nintendo Switch. This will make you lose all the advantages of the Internet in the console:
- You won’t be able to update games (or it will be much more annoying to do so)
- You will not be able to access the eShop
- You will not be able to buy games online or download them
- You will not be able to talk with your friends or see their activity
- You will not be able to download season specific content
- You will not be able to play multiplayer online mode in any title
Another of the main problems you will have when hacking the Switch is that these Nintendo bans are irreversible and the company is taking the persecution of users very seriously so it would be better to avoid taking a risk that ends up being expensive.
