We’ve been talking about Apple AirTags for over a year, object locators whose launch has been imminent for too long. It is not that there are simply rumors about them, it is that even the company itself has left evidence of their existence in different versions of iOS since last year. Now it is again assumed that they will be launched and there are those who even predict the price they could have.
AirTags would be the same price as Samsung’s
Samsung surprised last January with the launch of its Galaxy SmartTag, a series of location tags for objects with which it completely broke Apple’s schemes, since the Californian company was overtaken by its great rival. However, the leaker Max Weinbach, who has also revealed characteristics of the iPhone 13, has advanced information with which Apple would first match the Koreans and that is that the price could be around $ 39 , which is more or less what they cost Samsung accessories.

Of course, if we compare Samsung accessories and Apple futures with Tile, currently a leading company in the sector, we see that in the end they offer a price that is even double some of them (Tile sells different types). It is unknown if in the case of Apple they will be marketed in savings format with some type of package in which several AirTags are included at a lower price than the individual purchase.

Other known features
Weinbanch has not only stayed in the price of these accessories but has also spoken about their size, stating that they would have a surface of 32 x 32 x 6 millimeters, a size that does not go too far from the forecasts that were known. We remember that at the design level it is intuited that they are like in the images shown in this article and that they were shown by another filter months ago, Jon Prosser.
Launching this coming April?
After not having finally announced any event for March as expected, Apple could be playing the game and end up making a presentation of new products in the month of April through a press release (unless they finally decide to do a special event this month). Regardless of the format, it is expected that the AirTags will finally be presented in this round, since the iOS 14.5 betas have again shown signs that these accessories are coming.
Although some details about its operation remain to be known, it is assumed that they will be identifiable from the Search application available on iOS, iPadOS and macOS. Taking into account that they are designed to be attached to objects such as keys, cars and even pets, from this app it can be located on a map as if it were another device of the company.

What is new and what Apple intends to break the market with is that AirTags could secretly connect with other nearby Apple devices with the U1 chip and thereby send the location to the company’s servers. As it already happens now, this would work even with computers that are not linked to the same Apple ID and without the owner of that other device being aware that they are sending information. However, we will have to see how the issue of permits works in this section, since it could be one of the reasons why the company has been delaying the launch.
