PlayStation 5: Doubts about 1440p and the Web Browser

PlayStation 5 Doubts about 1440p

Much has been said about the absence of a somewhat special resolution for some users. PlayStation 5 will not offer the ability to scale the image to 1,440 pixels, and this will annoy all those users who have the habit of playing from a PC monitor. But, what is this absence due to?

A matter of priorities

The Japanese media AV Watch has been able to speak with those responsible for the company, Masayasu Iti (Sony EVP) and Hideaki Nishino (Sony SVP), and has not hesitated to ask them about some of the unknowns and concerns that arise among users. One of them was obviously the issue of not offering support for 1440p resolution.

This is something that is quite shocking since technically the implementation of the function should not suppose great headaches, and taking into account that with it you would win the applause of a certain public used to playing from a monitor, it would also serve to equal the bet that Microsoft is currently offering Xbox One X and recently with the launch of their new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

According to those responsible for the brand, everything is due to the fact that they have preferred to focus attention on supporting TV, however, they point out that there will be no technical reasons to avoid a possible update in case the demand in this way increases. Do you think it is important to offer this resolution?

And what about the web browser?

This issue is something that we really do not understand, but apparently there are many users who wonder what happened to the browser included in the console. It is true that it is an application that was present from PS3 and PS4, but its disappearance should not be a drama if we consider that it is an application with little use.

Beyond needing it to log into some wireless networks or complete logging in for some games (which continues to work thanks to the built-in functions of the system), having a full web browser is not something Sony sees you as. especially important today, so we will probably never see it in the console menu again.

And virtual reality?

Something that we can see clearly is the lack of support for one of the pieces that seemed to gain strength on PS4. We are obviously talking about virtual reality and the use of PlayStation VR, an accessory that will continue to be compatible with PlayStation 5, but for this we will need an adapter that we will have to request free from the manufacturer.

PS VR games work under the backward compatibility of PS4, and although some work somewhat better, in general we will not have a much more optimized experience than the one we enjoyed in the previous generation, so the attention in this format seems to be layered drop.

But is it? The executives assured that they would like to see a solution specially designed for PS5, but did not want to go into details, so it is not difficult to think that a new generation of virtual reality glasses is in development.
