The OPPO A53 hit the market a few months ago and is one of the cheapest terminals in its portfolio, not reaching 200 euros. In this price range, a large part of the annual sales pie is shared, and OPPO has to compete against tall rivals such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Realme or the newcomer Vivo. This is why the Chinese firm is already preparing its next hit, the OPPO A53 5G.
Although OPPO is a newcomer to the European market, since it unpacked at the beginning of 2019, it has positioned itself as the fastest growing smartphone brand in Spain. In addition, his is the milestone of launching the first 5G smartphone in the old continent, when he released his Reno series. It makes sense, therefore, that OPPO also wants to champion the democratization of 5G.
Swapping Qualcomm for MediaTek
We are seeing it at the end of this fateful 2020, so it will have much more weight in 2021. Cheap 5G mobiles are a reality, and OPPO is preparing a new version of the A53 compatible with this technology. The terminal has been detected in China Telecom as OPPO A53 5G, which has the model number PECM30. As it is a 5G terminal, you must change your Snapdragon 460 4G for a suitable chip that allows to maintain a low price, and the one chosen has been the MediaTek Dimensity 720.
The first images of the device have also been revealed, in which it is discovered that the rear is different from the 4G variant , and an improvement in technical performance is also appreciated. This leak is combined with its recent certification in TENAA, so we know almost all its characteristics.
The OPPO A53 5G will arrive with a 6.5-inch screen and FullHD + resolution, and with a hole to house the selfie sensor. The MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor will arrive accompanied by 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, Its battery is 3,945 mAh without rapid charging technology being appreciated. Its triple rear camera has 16-2-2 megapixel sensors, and the selfie sensor reaches 8 megapixels.
When will it arrive?
The price of the A53 5G has also been leaked, estimated at $ 245 for the 4GB RAM version, and $ 275 for the 6GB RAM variant. At the moment we do not know its presentation date, or possible presence in the international market. However, and the first version being marketed, we hope to see this new low-cost 5G for sale.
