MX Linux 19.2 KDE – Download the Final Version ISO

MX Linux is a Debian-based, XFCE desktop distribution that has gained great popularity among users looking for something light, fast and different. This distro has been the most sought after in the last year, both by Windows users who think about turning their backs on Microsoft‘s operating system, and by Linux users who are tired of the usual distros. Last June table, MX released a new version, 19.2 “Ugly Duckling” with enough changes and improvements to keep growing. But the best was yet to come: a version based on KDE , a version that has finally come true.

KDE is one of the most beautiful and customizable desktops that we can find within Linux. However, a long time ago, it was one of the heaviest, so a performance-focused distribution, such as MX Linux, did not consider using it. However, things have changed, and the latest versions of KDE Plasma are as lightweight as any other desktop, without turning away from any of its features.

MX Linux 19.2 with KDE

The new MX Linux with KDE desktop uses the same foundation as the main distro with XFCE, ie Debian. This excellent distribution is developed on this Debian, maintaining all the features that have always been part of this system. This distro is only available for 64-bit systems, and it comes with Advanced Hardware Support (AHS) enabled by default. The kernel it uses is the AHS Kernel for Linux 5.6 used also in Debian. And as for KDE, this distro comes with Plasma 5.14.5 version.

In addition to the above, this new edition includes the well-known MX Tools , as well as other software such as antiX-live-usb-system and a snapshot system. We will also find popular programs such as GIMP 2.10.12, Firefox 78, VLC 3.0.11, Clementine 1.3.1, Thunderbird 68.9 and LibreOffice 6.1.5, among others.

Of course, there is a “bug” in this final version of MX Linux, and that is that we cannot adjust the clock using KDE’s own configuration. But we can do it without problem from the MX Date tool, or from the time application, as always.

If we install the beta version of this edition, we can update to this stable version through any of the different ways to update Linux. However, if we are using the XFCE edition, there is no way to update to this new edition, only by formatting and installing from scratch.

The new final ISO of this distro can be found at the following link . We will download the new ISO image, we will record it to a USB memory, or to a DVD, and we will have it ready to install it on our computer. If we prefer, we will also be able to install it in a virtual machine to be able to test all its improvements and news without altering our computer.
