Motorola: How to Activate the Moto Display and What Is it For

The notifications of our mobile are part of the cornerstone of it. Without them, the information of everything that happens in the system or the various applications would not be possible. Motorola mobiles have a function that allows us to manage and control notifications when the screen is inactive, as the best method to view them quickly and save battery life.

How to Activate the Moto Display

Motorola integrates several tools so that users can better manage notifications. One of them is the so-called “Moto Screen”. Moto Screen helps you stay informed and connected, even with the screen turned off. Information appears discreetly so you can see notifications, time, battery and more without turning on the screen.

How the Moto Display works

When the screen is idle, Moto Display with notifications turn on and off, lighting only the necessary pixels, to display notifications received since the last time the screen was turned off. The customization options for this function allow you to select the applications that can display notifications and limit their content to better control privacy.

To be able to activate it

The first thing to do is to activate the function, which is done by entering the “Moto” application and touching the three horizontal bars that give access to “Moto Screen”. Once inside we will have to activate the switch that activates the notifications preview screen.

Available options

Once done, we can manage this type of notifications when the screen is inactive.

  • Expand details of the notification: we will have to drag the notification icon towards the three bars icon to be able to carry out any action such as replying or filing.
  • Respond to a notification : in this case, we can drag a notification to the action icon (arrow) to respond, or to the archive icon (down arrow)
  • Discard notifications : we will have to drag the notification icon towards the X symbol
  • Open related app: we will have to drag the notification icon towards the padlock or fingerprint symbol, in order to open the responsible app, for example a WhatsApp message.
  • Temporarily ignore: Stop notifications from flashing until the next one is received. It is done by dragging the notification icon to the right or left edge of the screen.

Modify settings

Likewise, within the Moto screen itself, we can touch its settings to access some options. We can stop the appearance of notifications from certain applications by tapping on “Block applications” or increase the level of privacy on what is shown on the screen. Furthermore, if we deactivate “secure answer” we will be able to respond without having to unlock the device.

To consider

The function makes sense when we are able to see the mobile, which is when the possibility of being communicated and not having to turn on the screen comes into play. To prevent them from being triggered unnecessarily, the Moto Display will not show notifications in these circumstances:

  • When the phone is in a pocket or bag.
  • When the mobile is with the screen down.
  • Being in the middle of a call.
  • When “Do Not Disturb” mode is on
