Most Common Problems of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Their Solutions

Did you postpone the purchase of the Galaxy S20 and decided to keep your Galaxy S10 for a while longer ? You’ll like to know that it’s still a great device, with top-notch performance, camera and battery. However, as it is not without its drawbacks, we put together the most common Samsung Galaxy S10 problems and their possible solutions.

Problem: Bluetooth connection disappears if screen turns off

A broken Bluetooth connection can be extremely annoying, especially if it goes away while wearing Bluetooth headphones / earphones or listening to songs in the car. Unfortunately, several S10 users complain that their phones are losing their Bluetooth connections while in use, interrupting songs, podcasts, and phone calls.

Most people realize that while Bluetooth connects seamlessly at first, it randomly disconnects while the screen is off, only to reconnect once the phone is on.

Solution:

  • The problem seems to be due to the fact that the optimization settings of the mobile applications make them turn off while the screen is off, regardless of whether it is being used or not.
  • If your problem is with a specific app like Spotify , you can disable optimization just for that app. To do this, go to Settings> Applications, press the three dots in the upper right and select Special access> Optimize battery use. Make sure the drop-down box at the top says Everyone, then scroll down and uncheck Spotify or whatever app you’re using.
  • If your problem is with the Bluetooth connection of your car, follow the previous method and deactivate the Bluetooth battery management in the section Optimize battery usage.

Problem: weak LTE / 4G connection

The 5G network will be amazing when fully operational, but today 4G is still the best for most users. So it is very annoying when it does not work. Many users report that their Galaxy S10 Plus has an extremely weak 4G connection, and is loading web pages and other content very slowly, while switching between 4G and 3G. But it’s not just a problem with the S10 Plus, as Galaxy S10 users also reported the problem.

Most of the people who reported the problem used the cell phone through the Sprint network , although a complaint comes from Vodafone in Egypt, so it may not be totally related to your operator.

Solution:

  • Samsung acknowledged the existence of the problem and claimed that a software update resolved the problem. To manually check for an update, head to Settings> Software update> Download and install. Anyway, some users insist that the failure persists, so the recommendation is to take it to a technical support store of your operator.

Problem: Low battery life

With significantly higher capacity batteries than previous S-series flagships, the Galaxy S10 family boasts vastly improved battery life. However, some users reported that their cell phones do not offer all the autonomy they should, and that some lose 30 percent of their charge when they are left to use overnight. This problem mainly affected the Samsung Exynos versions equipped with chips from the S10 range, which are used by most cell phones outside the USA. While Exynos chips have traditionally delivered poorer battery performance than their American counterparts, this problem is too extreme to be a simple difference between processors.

The problem would have two causes. The first one is in the proximity sensors of the device, which means that the screen of the cell phone accidentally turns on while it is in a pocket or bag, which increases the consumption of the battery . The second is an error that prevents the phone’s battery saving function from activating after the phone has completed a VoIP call in applications such as Skype or WhatsApp . The second failure only affected S10 phones with Exynos.

Alternative solutions:

  • To prevent the error of the proximity sensor affects you, it is best to always turn off the sight and “Lift to wake” (function Lift to Wake ).
  • Go to Settings> Lock screen and uncheck Always in view.
  • Then go to Settings> Advanced Features> Gestures  and Gestures and uncheck Lift to wake up.
  • The solution to the problem related to VoIP calls is not permanent. You must restart the cell phone after each VoIP call to eliminate the error and allow sleep mode to activate.
  • As an alternative, you could avoid such VoIP services, but considering that they include voice messages in applications like Facebook Messenger, this could be a bit complicated.

Problem: Overheating

Millions of people love Samsung phones, but with the background of the Galaxy Note 7, people are nervous when their device starts to heat up. Although theoretically not a problem, quite a few people have reported that their phones get very hot from regular use. This problem affected the Galaxy S10, S10 Plus and also the S10e. While some users simply reported that their phones were hot to the touch, the problem was more severe for others, with some phones simply dying from overheating.

Solution:

If you face this problem, contact Samsung or your provider and request a change or repair. Anyway, Samsung also provides recommendations to keep your phone at a suitable temperature.

Bug: Samsung Pay Popup

If you are totally tied to the Samsung ecosystem, then you can use Samsung Pay to make easy contactless payments anywhere. But even those who quit the service reported pop-ups inviting to use this Samsung app, and people are struggling to make them go away. The pop-up window is activated from the lock screen, and the Samsung Pay app appears to open directly. Great if you want to buy something, but maddening if you want to check your messages.

Solution:

  • Samsung has not provided any solutions for this problem, although on its website it provides a series of recommendations to solve difficulties related to Samsung Pay. Recommended alternatives include cleaning the application’s cache and data or reinstalling it.
