Microsoft Flight Simulator for Xbox: Performance and VRR

Microsoft Flight Simulator for Xbox

There is less left for Microsoft Flight Simulator to arrive on Xbox, so Asobo Studios is finalizing the final details before the aircraft land on Microsoft consoles. And for this they have made a video session in which they explain the news that the next update will include Sim Update 5.

Graphics with the best possible performance

As explained in the talk, the new Update 5 that will be released with the launch of the console version, will include the rewriting of a large part of the game’s engine architecture, a work that has allowed reaching rates of 60 images per second in 4K resolution on PC (previously it was 35 fps) and that will also allow the game to run fantastically on Xbox consoles.

To be exact, Xbox Series X will work in 4K resolution natively, while Xbox Series S will do it in 1080p. As for the refresh rate, the game will run at a stable 30 fps on most Smart TVs, however, those more modern models with variable refresh rate (VRR) will be able to enjoy rates between 35 and 40 pfs in loaded scenarios (center of Paris) and reach 60 fps in lighter settings (Bordeaux). Thus, the console will be able to work comfortably and offer the best frame rate of the moment, leaving the work of adjusting the image to the Smart TV. This is one of the advantages of having a TV with variable refreshment, since instead of setting ourselves at a rate of 30 fps, we can experience moments of maximum fluidity in the scenarios that allow it.

We will need an external hard drive

Microsoft Flighr Simulator

Taking into account the amount of data included in the complete installation of Microsoft Flight Simulator, Microsoft will launch a special hard drive so that players can store all content on it, and thus avoid occupying all the internal storage space of the console (somewhat which is essential when wanting to install new generation games).

At the moment the appearance and price of this hard drive is unknown, although it will simply be an optional accessory, since obviously we can use any USB 3.0 disk that we have at home.

Great improvements for the PC

When it comes to playing from a PC, Update 5 will include a gigantic leap in performance, since now we will be able to achieve 4K resolution at 60 FPS with the same hardware that previously stayed at 35 FPS flying over the same scenario.
