List of All PCIe 4.0 SSDs Reaching 7000MB / s

Thanks to the wide bandwidth offered by the PCI-Express 4.0 interface , in recent times we are seeing a great proliferation of SSDs that offer blazing speeds that reach 7000 MB / s , at least read. Many manufacturers are taking advantage of the situation to launch their own models with this performance, and in this article you will find all that are available.

The PCIe 4.0 interface has taken the performance of storage devices to new heights, and while the early SSDs to reach 7000MB / s read at first had significantly lower write speeds, the latest revisions of SSD controllers SSDs are encouraging write speed to match read speed.

List of All PCIe 4.0 SSDs

Fastest SSDs – Up to 7000MB / s Performance

Next we are going to tell you which are the fastest SSDs that exist, and which are also available in the consumer market so that any user can buy and install them on their PC. Although we have already said it before, keep in mind that all of them use a PCIe 4.0 interface and have an M.2 2280 format, so you will need your motherboard to be compatible in order to get the most out of them. That said, let’s go there with the list.

Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus, the first to reach 7000 MB / s

sabrent rocket 4 plus

This was the first SSD that appeared on the market, surprising with its enormous reading speed of 7000 MB / s, but not leaving behind its writing speed because it reaches 6850 MB / s. The secret of this milestone was the use of the new Phison E18 controller, the one used by most of the SSDs that you will see in this list and which was the revolution that allowed to squeeze the maximum capacity of the PCIe 4.0 interface.

This SSD also has two versions, one that comes without a heatsink that is designed to be used with the heatsinks that all boards already incorporate and another with a dedicated heatsink with no less than three heatpipes and that completely avoids thermal throttling. It is available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities.

Lexar NVMe Gen 4 × 4 M.2 2280 SSD exceeds 7000MB / s

Lexar SSD

This is probably the fastest SSD that exists since benchmarks have been seen in which it reaches 7,528 MB / s of reading, although it was only a prototype. In this case, the SSD uses a Silicon Motion SM2264 controller and 96-layer TLC-NAND chips that offer capacities of 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. In all cases it comes with a small black passive aluminum heatsink, like the one you can see in the image above.

Samsung 980 Pro PCIe NVMe M.2

Samsung-980-Pro-Portada

This is surely the most commercial version, since as it is manufactured by Samsung it is the one with the most stock and it is easier to find it in stores. Of course, in this case it uses an Elpis controller with 1 GB of LPDDR4 DRAM for cache but that “only” offers 5000 MB / s of writing, well below what the other SSDs of 7000 Mb / s of reading offer. It makes use of 3-bit TLC chips and is available in 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB capacities (no 2TB version for now).

MSI has two SSDs that reach 7000 MB / s, but they have no name

MSI SSD

The manufacturer MSI has recently entered the storage market with two SSDs that have already been presented but not announced, and in fact they do not have a concrete name yet. There are two models, and as you can see in the image, one reaches 7000 MB / s and the other at 6900 MB / s, staying one step away from the brand. They use of course PCIe 4.0 interface, both have a built-in heatsink and for now it is unknown in what capacities they will be available as well as the rest of their technical specifications beyond the use of TLC memory chips.

GALAX SSD Hall of Fame Extreme

Among the SSDs that reach 7000 MB / s, this GALAX model is the one that has taken the most attention to aesthetics. Instead of using the usual black color and the same color aluminum heatsink, this Hall of Fame has a white and indeed mirror effect heatsink (and PCB). It uses 3D TLC chips and it is also the only one that offers capacities of up to 4 TB.

In this case, it uses the same Phison E18 controller as the Sabrent Rocket, so its performance is the same: up to 7000 MB / s reading and 6850 MB / s writing.

Gigabyte AORUS Gen4 7000S

AORUS Gen4 7000s

The AORUS manufacturer also has its top-of-the-range SSD, and like the previous one, it uses the Phison E18 controller that offers 7000 MB / s of reading and 6850 MB / s of writing. It comes equipped with a low profile, black aluminum heatsink which, according to the manufacturer, is sufficient to prevent thermal throttling. It is available in capacities of 1 and 2 TB, but it must be taken into account that for some reason the 1 TB version is somewhat slower and offers up to 5,000 MB / s of writing.

Corsair MP600 Pro

Corsair MP600 Pro

In a list of “the fastest SSDs” you cannot miss a manufacturer like Corsair, who recently updated their MP600 with the word “Pro” to join the 7000 MB / s club. It also uses the Phison E18 controller and therefore its write speed is 6850MB / s; it is available in 1 TB and 2 TB capacities only.
