iPhone SE 2021: There Will Be No Launch According to an Analyst

With 2020 already closed as far as new Apple products are concerned, except for a capital surprise, it is our turn to look at 2021. This coming year a new iPhone SE was expected or at least that is what some analysts indicated. Well, a jug of cold water by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst close to supply chains and who has already confirmed that a new generation of this iconic device will not be launched next year.

It didn’t touch iPhone SE and there won’t be

In 2016, the first iPhone SE was released with a design identical to that of the iPhone 5s and with internal components like those of the iPhone 6s. In 2020 something similar has happened, having a new ‘SE’ model with a body identical to that of an iPhone 8 and an interior similar to that of the iPhone 11. Precisely this name has its origin in that it is an acronym for “Special Edition” so that releasing a model every year would make you lose that badge. This already makes us see that it would be at least rare to see the third generation next year.

iPhone SE 2021

Ming-Chi Kuo, analyzing the situation of one of the suppliers of components of the iPhone SE, stated that a new generation is not expected in the first half of 2021 . This does not completely rule out the idea of seeing a phone from this range in the second half of the year, but considering what we mentioned above it would be rare. In addition, it would not add up too much for the company to launch an iPhone SE 3 together with the iPhone 13, since they could overshadow each other too much.

The iPhone 12 mini is the ‘SE’ that many expected

When the characteristics of the iPhone SE 2 were known, many were disappointed to see that it was not an ‘all screen’ design like the new generations that introduced the iPhone X. Although the design of this device continues to attract many users and others It is indifferent, a good handful expected a phone with the edges as thin as possible and in a compact size. Those wishes came true with the iPhone 12 mini. This small 5.4-inch device complies with this and adds an OLED panel, a spectacular double camera, spectacular raw power with the A14 Bionic and on top with 5G connectivity.

iPhone 12 mini

Perhaps the biggest drawback of this ‘mini’ is its price, from 809 euros in Spain, which is already far from the 489 of the iPhone SE. However, for practical purposes, it could be said that it is a justified difference and that in some cases it could be more than enough. Perhaps not now, but if in the not too distant future this phone may become the role model for a hypothetical new generation of iPhone SE.
