The beta 5 for developers of iOS 14, iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, macOS 11 Big Sur and tvOS 14 is now available. This version has arrived in the expected time taking into account that Apple is releasing them every two weeks, however it is the most anticipated taking into account a series of bugs that the fourth beta incorporated and that were not present in previous ones. We refer to some bugs such as those of the native iOS camera app, shortcut bugs, widgets that do not quite work well and other performance problems. Will they finally be solved in these betas?
It is now possible to install the fifth betas
If you have a developer profile installed on your iPhone or iPad, you can update to this fifth beta just by going to Settings> General> Software update. If you have it on your Mac, the path is System Preferences> Software Update. For Apple Watch you can go to the iPhone Watch app, go to the “My watch” tab and go to General> Software update. For those who are going to test on an Apple TV, they just have to go to Settings> System> Software updates> Update software. The respective fifth betas will appear following these routes as if it were one more update.
At the moment, the main novelties are in performance improvements . It has been surprising how in this 2020 the betas are doing very well without noticing in many cases that they are versions prior to the official one, especially in the iPhone, but we must not forget that they are and therefore are not recommended for those users who do not have some knowledge on the subject. In fact, it is always recommended to install it on equipment that is not the main use.
When will iOS 14 and the rest of it arrive?
There is no exact date to stick to when counting down. Users will receive the new software versions this fall (spring in South America). Traditionally, September has been the year in which the new versions have come out, except for a year in which some such as macOS have been delayed for several weeks. This year it is a mystery all considering that these dates also usually coincide with the departure of a new iPhone, something that is already known that this year will happen later than usual as confirmed even by Apple itself.
We will have to continue waiting for these new operating systems to arrive and in the meantime it is not ruled out even that an official iOS 13.6.2 is seen if it were to be the case that there is some important error in the software and even security flaws. We will remain attentive to all this information, since in addition the iOS 14 code could also be key to know some detail of the iPhone 12 that has not been filtered until now.
