There are still two weeks for the new Huawei P40 to go on sale in Spain. On this occasion, the Chinese firm has presented three models: Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro + . As usual, the capacities of each one grow in stages while the price increases. However, we are facing three authentic titans of mobile photography. Today we wanted to take a close look at them to see how their cameras differ.
This year Huawei offers more options than ever, and there are four devices in total that are part of the P40 family, if we take into account the early presented Huawei P40 Lite. If we focus on the three high-end just presented, we see very important differences both in the number of sensors and in their types and capacities. Before continuing we will see at a glance what integrates each of the P40, in the rectangular module on the back.

Huawei P40
If we take a look at the Huawei P40, we see a main Leica sensor of 50 megapixels, which has autofocus and an aperture of f / 1.9 in addition to the RYYB filter. This means that it can capture more light in dark areas and enhance certain shades of color. This sensor can capture slow-motion video at up to 7,680 fps and record 4K video at 60fps. We also found an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor with f / 2.4 aperture and optical stabilization, which enables a 3X optical or digital zoom of up to 30X. Thirdly we have a 16 megapixel camera, an ultra wide angle sensor to take panoramic photos or group selfies.

Huawei P40 Pro
Climbing one step, the Huawei P40 Pro mounts four rear cameras. It integrates the same main sensor as its little brother, but improves the telephoto to 12 megapixels, with f / 2.4 aperture, which also offers a superior optical zoom of 5X, or digital up to 50X . The sensor that complements the quartet is a 40 megapixel wide-angle with f / 1.8 aperture. It is one of the big differences compared to the standard P40, since it can achieve good video shots in low light. Finally, a depth ToF sensor is added that will give a more professional touch to the blurs.

Huawei P40 Pro +
Lastly, the Huawei P40 Pro + stands as Huawei’s crown jewel, and it will remain so throughout the year until the arrival of the Mate 40 in late summer. In this case we find the same main sensor of 50 megapixels of its brothers, and the 40 megapixel sensor that we have seen in the P40 Pro. But in this case and to enhance the zoom, Huawei has incorporated two sensors of 8 and 12 megapixels, with telephoto capability to combine the two lenses to achieve digital zoom up to 100X, or digital zoom up to 10X.

Which one to stay with?
Only everyone’s pocket can answer this question. If we look for the maximum photographic capacity, it is clear that the P40 Pro + offers the best of Huawei. However, a standard P40 already has plenty of argument to convince anyone and shake its competition. The new Huawei P40 will go on sale in Spain on April 7.
