It will be one year after the launch of the first range stops of 2019, both Huawei and Samsung. Now they are mobile if it is even more interesting, especially given the lower prices they have now. On this occasion we compare the Huawei P30 with the Samsung Galaxy S10 , which one is more complete?
Today they are still range caps, something that will change in a few weeks, when we know the Huawei P40 and Samsung Galaxy S20, the new range caps of both firms, while, we will look at their predecessors, which still have much to tell.
Screen and Dimensions
No doubt they are two mobiles that continue to point at the top, with characteristics that have aged very well after a year. Starting with the screen of the Chinese mobile, which has a size of 6.1 inches and Full HD + resolution with OLED technology . Here the Korean wins with a screen that although it has the same size, it does have a double side curve , which gives it a more premium look. In addition, it offers us a QHD + resolution, higher than that of the Huawei, and the classic AMOLED panel of Koreans.
In the case of the Chinese we have a water drop shaped notch and the Korean a perforated front camera in the upper corner. Regarding the dimensions, having the screen equally large, the Chinese mobile has a size of 149.1 x 71.4 x 7.6 mm and the Samsung dimensions of 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8 mm . So it is the latter that has a somewhat higher size, but less wide than the Huawei. Regarding the thickness, the latter is thinner, although heavier, with 165 grams for the P30 and 157 grams for the Galaxy S10 .
Processor and Memory
Here there are no surprises, because each one uses the processors of each house, but there are differences. In the case of the Huawei P30 we find the Kirin 980 processor, which was then the most powerful of the Chinese firm. For its part, Samsung has its classic Exynos, in this case the 9820 , the most powerful that Koreans have today, until the S20 arrives.
Both processors have eight cores and similar performances although the Kirin is manufactured in 7nm, and the Exynos in 8nm, which is an advantage in favor of the Chinese. Regarding RAM, the version of Amazon that we have chosen from the Chinese mobile has 6GB, while the Korean offers us 8GB . In storage, they both offer us 128GB capable of using cards, in the case of the Huawei microSDXC and the Samsung microSD.
Undoubtedly one of the key aspects in any mobile comparison. In this case both fight with spectacular cameras, surely two of the best we have known in 2019, although always surpassed by their superior models within their range. In the case of the Chinese mobile we find a triple camera, with three sensors of 40.8 and 16 megapixels , as is usual in collaboration with Leica.
You can record 4K video at 30fps. For its part, Samsung offers a triple camera also, in this case with three sensors of 12, 12 and 16 megapixels , in this case with larger apertures than the Chinese. In addition the video that records in 4K is in 60fps. In front of us, the selfie camera offers us a large 32 megapixel sensor in Chinese, which wins the game to the Galaxy, which has a 10 megapixel.
Battery, connectivity and software
In this aspect there is enough equality, with the Chinese offering a 3650mAh battery and the Samsung Galaxy S10 a 3400mAh battery . The first with a fast charge of 22.5W and the second with a 15W, so in this aspect the Huawei earns little. In both cases we found Bluetooth 5.0, as well as NFC connectivity. On the Huawei Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac and on the Samsung Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac / ax.
Both also have USB Type-C connector. In the case of Huawei GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, QZSS and Samsung GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and GALILEO. The two phones also have a fingerprint reader under the screen. Finally, the software on both phones is already Android 10 , having updated at the end of 2019. In the case of the Huawei P30 with EMUI 10 and the Samsung Galaxy S10 with One UI 2.0. Both also offer reverse charging, being able to load devices on the back of these.
Price and Conclusions
We have looked at similar versions of both phones, and while we find the Huawei P30 for 430 euros , the Samsung Galaxy S10 still exceeds 600 euros . Grossly, the Huawei stands out for its Leica photo camera, it is undoubtedly its great value, while in the Samsung Galaxy S10 of course its curved screen and the camera are its most important features.
But if you look at the price difference, the most sensible thing is to keep the Huawei , both are extraordinary mobiles, the best we can find today in the market, but their equality is broken by the price, which is undoubtedly the great value of the Chinese mobile. But in either case, both are extraordinary phones.
