Within mobile devices we are storing a huge amount of personal information that, as is logical, we do not want anyone or anything to discover what we have saved. From images, applications, videos, documents … It will not matter what type of file it is, but what we will always want to keep intact will be our privacy.
Fortunately, within Huawei smartphones there are functions of great help to achieve this task, such as the Private Space functionality . However, it will not be the only option that we will explain to you, since we will have at our disposal many more possibilities, yes, as long as we have in our possession a mobile phone with EMUI from the Chinese firm.
Use the Private Space
The first thing we have to know is that this functionality will allow us to create a totally independent space from what our phone would be. In addition, in order to access it, we can use a fingerprint or password. Of course, not all mobile devices will allow access to this mode with fingerprint recognition.
Within this feature, we will be able to add photos, videos and other files to avoid in this way that nobody else except ourselves has access. And, for example, it would also be a good alternative to place our payment applications and games there. This way we would avoid that our children or nephews every time they pick up the mobile phone we do not run the risk that they start making purchases.
How to create it
Before we start hiding everything we have stored on our Huawei phone and thus avoid the gossips, we will need to start creating that space. To do this, follow these steps:
- Enter your phone’s settings.
- Click on the Privacy section> Private Space.
- Then, you will have to activate it by clicking on the Enable button that will appear at the bottom.
After these steps we will be asked to create a pin, password or even our fingerprint, which must be different from the one we normally use, in this way if someone can access our mobile, they will not be able to access this tool as well.
Hide access
In addition, you can access using any of the following methods:
- From the lock screen: access this functionality using the fingerprint or password set for the space. It is not necessary to have previously selected it.
- Alternatively: go to Settings> Privacy> Private Space and click on Sign in.
To get to hide access to this feature, we will have to configure a small settings from within the phone’s own Private Space. To do this, follow these steps:
- Inside the Private Space, go to Settings> Privacy.
- Then, click on it and enable Hide Private Space .
If you want to stop hiding access, then you must follow these steps: go to Settings> Security> More settings and then go to Show all settings > OK.
Transfer the files
One of the key points in this way is that the files in one space are not visible from the other, that is, when using the phone normally we will have access to the documents that we have in the Private Space. Although, it is possible to move images , videos and audios from one space to another. This option will only appear when we are within this function feature, although from it it is possible to pass files in both directions, that is, from the private space to the main one and vice versa.
To be able to carry it out, we will have to go to Settings> Privacy> Private Space and touch on the option From Main Space to Private Space or vice versa, depending on what you want to do. At that moment, you can choose between images, videos and audio, with a file selector. Then, tap on Move and confirm your intention in the drop-down window.
Remove it
If it has not finished convincing you, you can always end up eliminating it. Of course, if you erase it, you must be clear that the applications and data stored there will be deleted and cannot be recovered. If you still want to do it, you will have the following options:
- From the main space, go to Settings> Privacy> Private Space> Delete Private Space .
- When you are inside this tool: Settings> Privacy> Private Space> Delete.
More privacy tips
After going into detail about the Private Space, it is clearer to us that it is one of those utilities that will come in handy at any time to know how to use to be able to keep hiding images, videos or other files. However, we cannot always configure it quickly. Therefore, we will give you other alternative methods that, in some cases, will be simpler and even as effective as the previous case.
Create multiple profiles
Huawei will allow us to choose between two options when adding a new profile or account. On the one hand, the possibility of adding another user . With this possibility we will create an independent account where everything can be configured as if we had a new mobile device. And even if we restart the smartphone, the user’s data will be kept. Of course, the administrator can uninstall applications and delete data. Also, some of the EMUI features will only be available to the administrator. Instead, we will also have the option to add a guest. In this case we can choose if we want to continue with the previous session or delete everything.
In order to create them on a Huawei phone with EMUI, we will only have to go to Settings> Users and accounts > Users. Then, we must choose which option we want, that is, if we prefer to add a User or a Guest. However, we can only choose one guest and up to 3 users.
Block apps
The Application Blocking function will allow us to block the applications that we want, whether they are instant messaging or payment apps, since in this way we will prevent any other person from entering. In order to configure it on your Huawei mobile phone, you must follow the following steps:
- Access Settings.
- Click on the Security section> Application blocking .
- Click Enable.
From that moment on, we will have to configure the Application Lock password and select the applications that we want to block.
Encrypt your memory card
This case will only work for those users who have an external memory card in their Huawei smartphones. And, the files stored on the memory card can be encrypted. To do this, follow these steps:
- Insert a memory card into the device and make sure that the memory card
- have enough storage space.
- Then go to Settings> Security> More settings> Encryption and credentials .
- Then tap Encrypt memory card.
It will be very important that, during encryption, we do not restart the device or remove this accessory under any circumstances. Otherwise, the encryption may not be correct, or the data may be lost. In the event that we want to decrypt it, we will have to click on the option to Decrypt memory card.
