AirPlay, developed by Apple, allows users to seamlessly share content from their iPhone to their TV, Mac, iPad, or compatible speaker. However, there can be occasional connectivity or compatibility issues between devices. In this post, we will explore the most common problems encountered with AirPlay and provide their respective solutions.
To begin, let’s first understand the basic functioning of AirPlay. This technology from Apple facilitates wireless transmission of audio, video, and photos across Apple devices. For successful usage, both the sender and receiver devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and support AirPlay.

AirPlay connection issues
Next, we will explore some solutions to help you play content from your iPhone to your Smart TV. First and foremost, ensure that both devices are compatible with each other.
Mirror iPhone screen
One common mistake users make when trying to share content from their Gallery App is attempting to share files individually. Many users may think this is an error since they have to repeat the process for each file. However, the best solution for this situation is to use the screen mirroring option, which allows all the desired content to be played continuously on the big screen. To perform this procedure, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Apple TV or Smart TV.
2. Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner (or top to bottom, depending on the iOS version).
3. In the Control Center, locate the “Duplicate Screen” section and tap on it.
4. Choose the device with AirPlay that you want to stream to.
5. Enter the code displayed on the TV into your iPhone or iPad when prompted.

The Home App can be key
Another issue that can lead to compatibility problems between AirPlay 2 and your Smart TV is not configuring it properly in the Home app. To address this, follow these steps:
1. Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap on the “+” button to add a new accessory or device.
3. Choose “Add Accessory” and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Select your Smart TV from the list of available devices.
5. Follow the prompts to complete the setup process.
6. Once the Smart TV is added to the Home app, you can customize its settings and determine access permissions.

When configuring the Smart TV in the Home app, you have three options to choose from:
1. “Anyone on the Same Network“: This allows anyone connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Smart TV to access and control it through AirPlay.
2. “Only People Sharing This Home”: With this option, only people who have been invited and granted access to your Home app can use AirPlay with your Smart TV.
3. “Only People Sharing This Home, and Only While I’m Home”: This option limits AirPlay access to only authorized users who are physically present within the home where the Smart TV is located.
By configuring the AirPlay settings in the Home app, you can ensure that your Smart TV is properly integrated and accessible for seamless content sharing.
Reset network settings
If you haven’t been able to resolve the AirPlay connection issue, the next step is to reset the network settings on your device. Resetting the network settings will erase and restore all network-related configurations, including Wi-Fi passwords, VPN settings, and mobile data settings. Follow the steps below to proceed:
1. Tap on “Settings” on your device’s home screen and select “General.”
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the General settings menu and tap on “Reset.”
3. From the Reset options, tap on “Reset Network Settings.”
4. You will be prompted to enter your device password to confirm the action.
Please note that resetting network settings will not delete any of your personal data or files on the device. However, you will need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and set up any customized network configurations after the reset.
After resetting the network settings, attempt to establish an AirPlay connection again and see if the issue has been resolved.
