How to Make Installed Apps Not Create Shortcuts

It is easy that as soon as we use our smartphone, we have dozens of applications installed, adding those that each manufacturer pre-installed at the factory. In a more active user, there can be hundreds of apps that meet in the same terminal. Organization is essential to avoid chaos, although sometimes it is not possible.

When this happens, it can be very difficult to find specific applications, especially those that we do not use as often but are still useful. Most mobile and customization layers include two ways of viewing applications. The first is with shortcuts on the desktop , and the second is the famous application drawer, that is, the access in which we can see together, each and every one of the apps we have installed on the device.

How to prevent accesses from being created

Access the Home Screen Settings

The problem is that sometimes the apps in this drawer are duplicated unnecessarily, with the desktop shortcuts. This happens largely because when we install an app, Android creates an automatic shortcut on the desktop, without asking us whether or not we want said access . However, we can change this option by default so that the icon is not created, and we can do it manually and selectively, only with those apps that we consider must be on the desktop. This is a way to maintain some order, and avoid that everything you install ends up visible on the home screen.

Uncheck the box for new installations

In order to avoid this, we will have to enter the Home screen Settings. For this we will leave pressed in a blank space inside the desktop. Once done, we will see the different options of the contextual menu of our terminal. Now, we will click on “Home screen settings”. Once inside, we will have to uncheck the box that says “Add icon to home screen”.

Add manually

Once done, we can go out and try to install an application. With the option unchecked, a shortcut should not be created. Instead, and if we are interested in having access to a specific application , we will have to click on it in the Applications Drawer and drag it to the desktop. To activate the previous system, we will only have to retrace our steps and re-activate the box.
