One of the first problems that appeared in Xiaomi phones with MIUI 12 and Android 11 was in the system gestures and now months later the problem is still very present. Despite the talk that MIUI 12.5 will manage to optimize the system and improve all these failures, many users cannot wait any longer and want to use their mobile as they would like.
For that reason, we are going to try to solve this failure with the gestures that cause so many inconveniences in Xiaomi. To correct them, we are going to follow several steps that we must imitate to the letter in order to get the gestures to work as they should on our Xiaomi mobile. Once it is updated to MIUI 12.5, the system will continue to work just as well and we will have no errors.
Where does the problem come from and which mobiles are affected?
Going through the forums and social networks we have found many users affected by this problem with gestures in Android 11 , which makes us think that it is directly influenced by it. Although in MIUI 12 with Android 10 there is also some difficulty, they can be used, something that does not happen with the latest version of the operating system where the system seems to be blocked and prevents its use.
At the moment that users activate the gestures on the screen, there is no way to take advantage of them, no matter how much we change the area from where we slide and this has been seen in the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10 or in several Poco devices, but there could be more affected terminals that we have not known yet.
A problem that is not new
Although it may seem that this error has its origin in Android 11, the truth is that MIUI and gestures have never been good friends, especially when trying to change the system launcher. For years Xiaomi users have had problems using gestures in new launchers and that forces them to be limited with MIUI. Worse however, this time, for what they want to use gestures and do not care about the launcher, the solution is different.
Fix Xiaomi gestures with Android 11
To achieve the best result in Xiaomi with these latest versions of software we must focus extensively on the optimization of MIUI 12 that we already learned about previously and especially on the process that will allow us to return the default launcher to the original state. After major updates, the files that are kept in the cache seem to be causing problems and in many of them it is the only thing that affects the gestures.
Therefore, we will only have to access Settings> Applications> Installed applications and look for the System Launcher to access the memory, clearing the cache and all the data of this app. This will affect our content at all and then we can reconfigure them on the screen to check if the gestures with Android 11 work properly.
Otherwise, what we must do is install Poco’s launcher , which is available in the Play Store and which, being developed in collaboration with MIUI 12, does not offer any inconvenience and is even the solution that many need. This one does not present failures with the gestures and in several things it is better even than the native Xiaomi.
