Do you remember that very recently we told you that Twitter had started to offer a new function so that we have more control over our conversations and who participates in them? They were a kind of “selective conversation” where you had control over who you interacted with. Well, it is time that you not only get to know them but learn to use them to get more out of them.
Twitter, the favorite platform to protest?
They always say that Twitter is the social network for the outraged and, well, in a way, it has bought enough ballots for it. Being a platform so given to the exchange of opinions like this, the social network frequently becomes a hotbed of debates in which you can always read comments of all kinds (some that without place cross that line that should never be passed).
This possibility of having conversations with many people can be tremendously enriching … or and / or also horribly stressful. The toxic environment often reaches the threads of the blue bird, giving it that reputation of a place where people “only come to protest.” To try to control this situation a little better, Twitter is developing tools like the one we are dealing with today. With it it is possible to control who can and who cannot respond to our tweets, so you avoid in a certain way that unnecessary debates or controversies are generated in which you do not want to enter (or rather, you do want to deal with but not with everyone ).
Today we are going to show you how easy it is to use this control measure, so you can use it whenever you need it when commenting on the social network.
How to control who responds to our tweets
Choosing who can reply to a tweet that you have published is very simple and is quite close at hand, so the steps to follow are extremely simple. Simply do the following:
- Enter Twitter either in an app on your mobile phone or via the web.
- Go to the + button to write a tweet normally.
- Now under the writing space and the image gallery to add, you will see a new option that by default will show « Anyone can reply «. Tap on the phrase.
- You will have three options to choose from: the one already named, represented by «All»; that of “People you follow” (only those who follow you will be able to answer you): and that of “Only the people you mention” (implies that you mention @ people in your tweet and only they will be able to participate in the conversation).
- Select the one you want.
- Write your tweet normally and published.
- Ready. According to your preferences, this is how people who read to you can act.
Although many people already see this option, it could happen that you still don’t see it available . And it is an update that Twitter has deployed very slowly and is still pending to reach the millions of users that the social network has. In our case, we have managed to test it on an Android phone (a OnePlus) and only one of the four editors who are part of the team. Keep that in mind and give it patience.
