PlayStation Plus has been completely renewed, with a multitude of new features and a level system in which we will pay just for what we are going to use. One of the things that Sony promises with its new membership is that we will be able to test full games for a while, but the Japanese have not yet specified an exact number. The demo service has already been released in Asia, and now we have an idea of where the shots are going.
The dilemma of video game demos
How long should we play a game to be sure if we like it or not? Well, we are faced with a great dilemma. If we go too short, we run the risk of not hooking the user , and therefore, never buying the title. And if we go too far, the player could go too far in the video game and be satisfied.
Until now, video game demos were closed versions, with a beginning and an end. But Sony, like other companies, wants to bet on full games . And it is not always easy to find the exact time to convince a player. For example, a few months ago we tried Nintendo Switch Cloud Control , and the experience was a bit disastrous, since Nintendo only allows a 10-minute test on its servers. Once the warning goes off and the system kicks us out as the guard of the Safari Zone, the short time that they have allowed us to play between the loading screen and the loading screen makes you not buy the title under any circumstances. What we mean by this is that a bad demo can also be a double-edged sword, as it will convince us not to buy the game in question .
How long can we play demos on PlayStation Plus?
Everything indicates that Sony has studied this phenomenon quite a bit. On Twitter, the Playstation Game Size account has already collected all the data for PS Plus Trials in Asia , and thanks to them we now know that there will not be an exact time .
Each title will have a time associated with it. And it makes a lot of sense. Trying a game like FIFA, which we know very well, is not the same as playing a game like CyberPunk 2077 , which not only has to hook you with its long plot, but also has to convince you in terms of performance and graphics, due to to the bad fame that dragged a couple of years ago during its launch.
According to PlayStation Game Size, they have detected demos of 2, 3 and 5 hours . The games are distributed as follows:
2 hour demos
In this group are the games that do not have a complex gameplay , and that should convince you in just a couple of hours:
- WWE 2K22
- Elex 2
- Tiny Tina’s Wonderland
- Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
- Lego City
- MotoGP 22
3 hour demos
In titles that have somewhat longer tutorials , PlayStation Plus will let us play an extra hour:
- Farm Simulator 22
- Crusader Kings III
5 hour demos
And finally, we will have demos of up to 5 hours for the most complex titles. At the moment we only know of two cases:
- Horizon Forbidden West
- cyber punk 2077
Both Horizon and CyberPunk require a few hours to get to know the options that the game gives us and get to control the character freely .
