Google Pixel: New Adaptive Sound Feature to Improve Sound

On many occasions, we have seen how the Google Pixels serve as test benches to test exclusive Android functions. These functions may or may not terminate on other Android devices, as has already happened with Digital Wellbeing and many others. Now, a new function has been discovered that will allow to improve the sound of the Pixels through an intelligent system that adapts the ambient noise to improve the quality.

Yesterday we echoed a sound problem that affects the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G. Users complain about the sound quality of the speaker when making calls or listening to multimedia content. Therefore, this new function seems like a fall from heaven and it will very surely be received with open arms by the users of these terminals.

Better sound for every environment

On this occasion and as in many others, it has been a member of the XDA forums, who has revealed that Google works on a function called “Adaptive Sound” or Adaptive Sound. As the main novelty, it will use the Pixel speakers to adjust the equalizer taking into account the environment. This should translate into better audio quality.

This name may be somewhat familiar, since it is a function available in the Pixel Buds, although it should not be confused with this option, which presumably will come to the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4. In this case, the function is exclusively focused in audio quality. In this way, the terminal can automatically adjust the equalizer depending on the environments, that is, if you are in a closed room, a bathroom or a kitchen. The terminal will be able to adjust its parameters as the user moves from one environment to another. In the description of the function, it is indicated that any audio captured by the microphone will be erased in a short space of time, as it will be processed internally by our phone and will not be uploaded to any external server.

Imminent integration?

We do not know if this software innovation is intended to be a patch to the aforementioned hardware problems that users have been reporting for a long time and that affect sound quality. However, the source states that it should be compatible with all Pixels that run Android 11 , and not only for the Pixel 5. What is not clear is when the update that integrates this novelty could be launched and if it can reach mobile phones from other brands in the future.
