Google Pixel 4a vs Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G: Differences and Which is Better

Luckily, different manufacturers launch their phones in different price ranges. In this way, all budgets have a place and we find a balanced terminal without having to spend excessively. But let’s imagine that we have 400 euros and we want to spend them on a new mobile. Two terminals are going to raise their hands for you to buy them: the new Pixel 4a and the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G . The decision will not be easy …

We are facing two very different bets, it must be said, but that does not mean that the purchase decision will be easy. The prices of both terminals are very similar, but there are important differences and advantages of one mobile over another that we will have to take into account. We have to start from the premise that the Pixel 4a is a terminal that brings the pure Android experience like no other device, while the Xiaomi mobile is one more in its immense and incessant number of releases.

Screen and dimensions

If you look at the size of the screens and you are one of those who are looking forward to the return of compact phones, the Pixel 4a is your device thanks to its 5.8 inches, which has OLED technology and a FullHD + resolution. The Mi 10 Lite 5G for its part goes up to 6.57 inches s with the same FullHD + resolution. The screen ratio is also different, reaching 19.5: 9 on the Pixel and 20: 9 on the Xiaomi device.

There is a difference that is an advantage for the Mi 10 Lite, and it is its protection by Gorilla Glass 5, compared to the Gorilla Glass 3 protection of the Pixel 4a. Xiaomi also achieves a more successful screen / body ratio with 85.1% vs. 83.3% for the Pixel.

pixel 4a

Due to its size the Pixel 4a is a pen with its 142 grams , although it is thicker than the Mi 10 Lite 5G with its 8.2 millimeters. Xiaomi’s mobile reaches 7.9 millimeters and weighs 192 grams. In this case we have to applaud Xiaomi since having a much larger battery, as we will see later, it can maintain an acceptable thickness.

Snapdragon very different

When we lift the hood of both terminals we see what is one of the great differences between both terminals. The Pixel 4a integrates the Snapdragon 730, which directly leaves you out of 5G connectivity. If it had gone up one notch, perhaps it could have tied with the Mi 10 Lite that integrates the Snapdragon 765 G. Integrating a lower chip, in addition to a relative lower performance, also leads to the graphics chip being more modest, we see it with the Adreno GPU 618 of the Pixel versus the Adreno 620 GPU of the Xiaomi.

Snapdragon 730G

In both cases we have versions with up to 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM . In addition, and to the regret of many, this internal memory cannot be expanded using microSD cards. Curiously, both have the UFS 2.1 reading standard, which despite not being the fastest on the market, guarantees good performance in reading and writing the system, which is perceived when installing or opening applications and files.

Cameras: more is better?

When we turn the two devices around, it gives us the feeling of being years away from one terminal to another. However, Google continues to boast of “no more is better” so it has only integrated a 12 megapixel sensor in the Pixel 4a. However, it has DualPixel technology and many of the functions of its older brothers and devices with a higher price range. Google ensures that the night photos will be impeccable, and can even perform astrophotography.

For its part, the Mi 10 Lite 5G has a 48-megapixel main sensor , an 8-megapixel wide angle and 2-megapixel depth and macro sensors. In this case it has a double LED flash. The front sensor of this terminal is 16 megapixels, doubling the 8 megapixels that the Pixel 4a offers. The truth is that Google has already shown on other occasions that more does not have to mean better and that a single sensor can achieve better results than mobiles that are packed with megapixels or number of sensors.

In the connections section, only the Mi 10 Lite offers compatibility with 5G networks , but both maintain elements that are still highly valued such as the 3.5 mm headphone jack. They also have NFC or Bluetooth 5.1 However, we found two differences in favor of Google and it is the integration of the USB 3.1 standard against the Xiaomi USB 2.0 standard. The Pixel has a rear fingerprint sensor while the Mi 10 integrates it on the screen.

Android 10 on both

The two terminals have Android 10, but with the difference of the pure experience on the Pixel 4a, and the pure MIUI layer on the Xiaomi. In addition, the Pixel user knows for sure that he has guaranteed operating system updates for at least two years, while the uncertainty with Xiaomi is always in the air, as users of the Mi Mix 3 5G may well corroborate.

Battery and fast charge

We fly to a key section such as the battery. The Pixel 4a will spend less on the screen, it is true and hence its battery reaches 3,140 mAh. The Mi 10 Lite 5G does the same but with a 4,160 mAh battery. The Pixel has 18W fast charge technology compared to the 20W of the Mi 10 Lite 5G.

Similar prices

Both terminals could have tied for price, if it were not for the Pixel 4a being worth 389 euros in Spain . We say this because incomprehensibly, it costs 349 euros in other EU countries such as France or Germany, which is precisely the price from which the Mi 10 Lite 5G starts. Its most powerful variant with 128 GB goes up to 399 euros.
