Google Assistant Sometimes Secretly Records Audio

It is not the first time that we talk about the continuous problems that we live today in relation to the privacy we have on our phones. Above all, the one that deals with the microphone and the possibility that someone is constantly listening or recording what we speak when we have a telephone nearby. And if you didn’t already know, Google has already admitted that its voice assistant records users’ audio even when it is not activated.

Although it is difficult to think that someone could be listening and recording a large part of what we say, the truth is that now with the confirmation of the American company it is becoming increasingly clear that it is a reality.

Google sometimes records your audio

According to the latest reports that have been known in ‘India Today’, it has been confirmed that the company could have admitted that its voice assistant records the audio of the people who have it, even when it is not activated with the word that is necessary to enable it: ” Ok Google “. And it is that, the representatives of Google supposedly affirmed to a Permanent Parliamentary Committee of Information Technology of India that their employees are able to listen to the recordings of conversations between users and the Google Assistant.

However, this is something that the company has already accepted on previous occasions. Although this time, they have admitted to this same source that their voice assistant is capable of recording audio at certain times. As we said, Google previously stated that its employees listen to the different recordings of what users say to the Google Assistant in order to improve its voice recognition technology for the different languages that exist. In addition, the company affirmed that it is only accessible to a part of its employees. Most important of all, they made it clear that they don’t listen to our most sensitive conversations.

However, the big question arises: How does Google manage to distinguish between sensible and more normal conversations? In addition, in 2019, one of Google’s language reviewers already leaked different confidential audios to a Belgian media outlet.

Of course, we still do not know why the voice assistant of this company is capable of recording the audio of those users who have it on their mobile device or on a speaker. What we do know is that this assistant is always listening to recognize the activation word, just like Amazon’s Alexa. But, everyone understood that I only recorded conversations after hearing “Ok Google” or “Hey Google”. If this last information is correct, we would be facing a serious problem in our daily privacy.
