Google Assistant Improves the Use and Support of Wired Headphones

Google has introduced an interesting novelty regarding the use of Google Assistant, but this time it has nothing to do with the company’s own smart speakers or other brands that also opt for this assistant. This time the protagonist is the mobile phone, from now on Google Assistant will read the notifications when you use wired headphones.

Google Assistant and spoken notifications

Google Assistant Improves Wired Headphones

As you may already know, one of the most attractive functions of intelligent voice assistants, among the many they offer, is that of reading notifications . Despite this, it is not one of the most used and this is because sometimes it can be hell to listen to the hundreds of messages from WhatsApp or similar applications. But properly configured it can be very useful and not only in smart speakers, where many are used to doing it because they do not have a screen to read them. Except for the models that do integrate it.

Although there is another interesting scenario, using this reading of notifications on mobile devices when we are using them with headphones and it is stored in a bag or trouser or coat pocket. The problem is that until now this was a function only available in certain models of True Wireless headphones or with the seal of compatible with Google Assistant.

Now all this changes, Google has released an update and improvement of its voice assistant on mobile devices that allows you to use wired headphones so that Assistant reads aloud the notifications you have received. And be careful, this applies to both headphones that you can connect through the 3.5mm Jack connector and USB C.

In order to access this option, all you have to do is make sure that you have the latest version of the wizard. To do this, go to the system updates and if there is any pending, apply it. For the rest, from the Google application, within the Assistant settings you will be able to see if the option of wired headphones appears in the list of connected devices.

If this is so, you can now use this new feature of the Google voice assistant with any wired headset that you connect to it. And although it may seem a small thing, it is not like that. In addition, operation is as simple as pressing the hands-free action button to be able to indicate a command as it was done until now, or hold it for a couple of seconds to chain that new voice-over where it will tell you the time, the number of notifications and read the latest ones aloud.

Now what would be great is that, after this inclusion, Google also gave support to the rest of Bluetooth headphones that right now do not offer this option to read notifications and that has been present for a long time in proposals such as Sony and its WF-1000, Panasonic, etc.

Really, take a look because it is an option that well configured is quite useful. More now that the cold arrives and taking out the phone may not be the best option when you go down the street.
