The Samsung Galaxy ecosystem connects compatible phones, tablets, watches, earbuds, PCs, and home devices through several separate features. There is no single switch that links everything. Start with your Samsung account and Settings > Connected devices, then set up the feature you need.

How does the Samsung ecosystem work?
Some features use Bluetooth, some use Wi-Fi, and others use a Samsung account or a separate app. Two Samsung products can work together in one way without supporting every other feature.
| What you want to do | Feature to look for | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Send photos or documents | Quick Share | Receiving permissions, supported devices, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings |
| Continue a note or webpage | Continue apps on other devices | Compatible Galaxy devices, same Samsung account and network |
| Switch earbuds between devices | Auto switch Buds | Supported Buds, host devices, software, and account setup |
| Use a Galaxy phone with a PC | Link to Windows / Phone Link | Supported phone, Windows version, accounts and permissions |
| Manage lights, TVs or appliances | SmartThings | Each product’s compatibility and any required hub |
| Manage a watch or earbuds | Galaxy Wearable | Support for that accessory and your phone |
Samsung’s Connected devices guide lists these controls together. The menu’s contents vary with the model and software; seeing it does not mean every item is available on your device.
Set up Galaxy linking one feature at a time
- Update the phone, tablet, and accessory apps you plan to use.
- Check that you are signed in to the intended Samsung account. Use the same account where the feature requires it.
- Open Settings > Connected devices on the Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Choose a feature and follow its pairing or permission prompts.
- Test a small action, such as sharing one photo, before moving important files.
Quick Share transfers files; it is not the feature that switches a call into your earbuds. For the file-transfer steps, see our Quick Share guide.
Continue Samsung Notes or Internet on another device
Samsung’s app-continuity guide says this feature supports Samsung Notes and Samsung Internet on compatible devices with One UI 3.1 or later. Both devices must use the same Samsung account and Wi-Fi network, have Bluetooth on, and have Continue apps enabled.
After opening a note or webpage on the first device, check Recents on the other device for the option to open it there. This is not a promise that every Android app can resume the same session on a tablet.
Fix the most common connection problems
- The device is missing: check compatibility, discovery or receiving settings, and whether Bluetooth is on.
- A feature worked before: confirm that both devices still use the correct accounts and permissions.
- Same-network features fail: check that one device has not joined a guest network that isolates devices. Our Wi-Fi setup comparison explains why coverage and network settings are separate issues.
- Only one app fails: check that app’s support page instead of resetting all your devices.
You do not need to replace every product with a Samsung model. Choose the feature you actually need, then check both ends of the connection before buying another device.
