So far the stable versions of Firefox allow two options to import and export keys by default. We can do it from other compatible browsers, such as Google Chrome or Edge, as well as export the logins to an unencrypted CSV file.

It should be noted that some password managers already supported importing Firefox keys, but the browser did not have the option to import passwords from key managers.

This feature will arrive with the Firefox 85 version. At first it will not be enabled by default. You can import keys from password managers that use the KeePass or Bitwarden formats. It is the CSV file format used by password managers when keys are exported in this format.

How to activate this feature in Firefox

We have indicated that this new feature is not enabled by default in the stable version of Firefox. However, it is already activated by default in Firefox Nightly, which is the version of the Mozilla browser where the changes arrive first.

To activate it in the stable version of Firefox we have to open about: config in the address bar. It will ask us to accept. Later we have to search for signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled. We must mark the True option, so that it is activated correctly.
