Evercade VS: The Retro Cartridge Console with HDMI Output

That we are experiencing a resurgence of retro platforms is something we have already known for more than a couple of years, but the intensity with which the interest in sprite and few-bit platforms is still such that there are still manufacturers who are encouraged to launch new consoles. This is the case of Evercade, which has surprised us with the launch of this peculiar Evercade VS.

Evercade VS, the modern console with cartridges

Evercade VS: The Retro Cartridge Console
To this day, Nintendo remains faithful to its principles and the successful Switch continues to be based on tiny cartridges in the form of memory cards in which to store games, but it has been a long time since we stopped seeing the classic cartridges of the 90s. However, it seems that there is a manufacturer that is determined to continue betting on them, since Evercade has launched a new console with which to use its peculiar cartridges.

And it is that Evercade opted for this physical format when they launched their retro portable console, a very interesting model with a 4.3-inch screen in which you can connect game cartridges that you can play wherever you want. The concept was a clear reference to the usual consoles, and it seems that the manufacturer has wanted to continue exploring that concept with a new version.

However, it seems that there is a manufacturer that is determined to continue betting on them, since Evercade has launched a new console with which to use its peculiar cartridges.

And it is that Evercade opted for this physical format when they launched their retro portable console , a very interesting model with a 4.3-inch screen in which to connect game cartridges that you can play wherever you want. The concept was a clear reference to the usual consoles, and it seems that the manufacturer has wanted to continue exploring that concept with a new version.

Modern, desktop and for many gamers

Evercade VS

Thus was born the Evercade VS, a desktop model that comes to offer the same games in cartridge format, with the difference of being able to connect the console to a television via HDMI and connect up to 4 controllers simultaneously to enjoy local multiplayer games.

Another of its peculiarities is that we can connect up to two cartridges simultaneously, so we can have a wide preloaded catalog (depending on the cartridge we are using) without having to constantly change cartridges. The console does not make use of ROMs, or at least not the ROMs that we usually know, but obviously they are emulated versions stored in the cartridges.

With a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor , this console is responsible for offering 1080p resolution , and thanks to the front USB ports we can connect the official controllers or any USB gamepad to play games that allow 4 simultaneous players. There is also the possibility of using the original Evercade as a remote control, although for this we will have to use a “special red cable” to make the connection.

A console for physique lovers

Evercade VS

Evercade’s approach is completely geared towards a collector profile that values games in cartridges, and is that the manufacturer proposes an extensive collection of numbered cartridges that can be gathered to show off a complete collection. All cartridges have official licenses, and we will find compilations from Namco, Jaleco, Piko Interactive and even Atari.

How much is this retro console worth?

The official price of this console will be around 99 euros , and for now the only thing we can do is reserve a unit in our name, since it will not go on sale until next May 28 through the official website . Remember that the games are sold separately, costing an average of 18 euros each unit.

Currently you can buy the portable Evercade with a price of 69.99 euros for the basic version, also finding other versions accompanied by some extra games.
