Microsoft releases new versions of Windows 10 every 6 months. And each of these versions is usually supported for 18 months, that is, a year and a half. During this period, the Windows versions receive patches and security and quality updates to offer the best protection and the best performance to all users. This allows us not to have to update to each and every version, avoiding having to face some of the many problems that usually appear when updating. Of course, we must be careful not to stay in a version longer than the account, or we will put the PC in danger.

1909: a great version comes to an end
Windows 10 1909 , also known as the November 2019 Update , has been one of the best versions of the operating system. After the incompatible problems of the 2018 versions, and the low confidence of 1903, the November 2019 update managed to win over users. In addition, it has been the version chosen by Microsoft to forcefully update all users who will use obsolete versions of the operating system throughout 2020.
However, this version is about to be out of support. Specifically, on May 11 of this year, Windows 10 19H2 will receive its latest security and quality updates . Thereafter, the version will be abandoned, it will not receive any more updates and users who continue to use it will be exposed to the smallest security flaw.
All versions of Windows 10, sooner or later, end up being unsupported. The worrying thing about this 1909 is that, in January 2021, this version was installed on more than 30% of Windows 10 computers. And, if it is not updated to a newer version, computers will be in danger.
Supported and Unsupported Windows Versions
For now, and up to three months from now, Windows 10 version 1909 is still supported. In addition to this, the 2020 versions of the operating system, that is, 2004 and 20H2 , are versions that are also supported. And, before the end of support for this Windows 2019 arrives, Microsoft will launch the first update of 2021 of the operating system, of which very little is still known.

If we use any other version, of which are not supported, we will be in danger. It is necessary to update as soon as possible to a more modern version so that we can continue to protect ourselves from the innumerable vulnerabilities that are hidden within the Windows code.
To update, we just have to open Windows Update and manually search for new versions. If not, we can also update Windows by hand using the media creation tool.
How to check my version of Windows
To check the version of Windows that we have installed on the computer, what we must do is execute the “winver” command within the Windows search bar to open the ” About Windows ” tool of the operating system.

If version 1909 appears, or any previous version, we must consider updating the PC as soon as possible. If, on the other hand, it appears with version 2004 or 20H2, then our computer has a 2020 version of Windows, and we can be protected. At least for now.
