A charger’s maximum wattage is its capacity, not the power every Pixel will draw. Charging depends on the phone model, supported voltage profiles, cable, temperature and battery level. A compatible 45W or 67W adapter does not force that much power into a lower-power phone.
Start with Google’s compatibility guidance
Google’s Pixel charging guide identifies USB Power Delivery (PD) adapters and Programmable Power Supply (PPS) options. Check the requirements for your exact model if you want its advertised peak rate.
A USB-C socket alone does not identify the charging protocol. Read the adapter’s specifications and use a suitable USB-C cable. Older USB-A adapters or incompatible fast-charge protocols may charge the phone more slowly.
Official adapters and third-party choices
- Google 45W USB-C Power Charger: Google’s adapter specifications list PD and PPS profiles. The phone still negotiates its own input.
- Pixel Flex Dual Port 67W: a current two-port option for compatible devices. Google’s specifications distinguish single-port power from shared output.
- Third-party USB-C PD/PPS adapter: compare the actual output profiles, supported cable and supplier documentation. A familiar brand name or high wattage is not enough by itself.
Why charging may slow down
Phones reduce input as the battery fills or warms. Battery-protection settings, simultaneous use and shared-port allocation can also change the result. Compare charging under similar conditions rather than treating a single displayed estimate as a charger benchmark.
For a multi-port adapter, check the output available after a second device is connected. A total rating is not a promise that every port can deliver that total simultaneously.
Before buying
Confirm the model, plug type, cable inclusion and charging protocol. Keep an existing compatible adapter if it already meets your needs. Our broader phone-charger compatibility guide covers proprietary systems; phone storage specifications are another reminder that advertised hardware numbers need context.
