Edge: New Menus and Effects to Work in Windows 11

Windows 11 is slowly making its way between us. With the arrival of the new build, the operating system is now a bit more stable, and is one step closer to reaching us. Microsoft continues to listen to users and debug all possible bugs that can be found within the OS. But it not only works on it, but also so that all the programs (at least yours) are correctly adapter according to the appearance of your OS. After we were able to test the new Office interface yesterday, now it is Edge‘s turn.

The new Edge, based on Chromium , is Microsoft’s web browser par excellence, the only one that will have support within Windows 11, leaving aside, finally, Internet Explorer and the classic Edge. Like Chrome, this browser has three different versions: stable , recommended for most users, beta , a bit more advanced, but with possible stability problems, and Canary , the most unstable of all and the one that more problems can give us, but the most advanced in terms of functions.

Edge: New Menus and Effects to Work in Windows 11

A few hours ago, Microsoft has released a new version of Edge Canary for all users who are testing this new version. And this version, finally, adapts many of the elements of the browser interface to the appearance of the new Edge.

Edge visual changes to accommodate Windows 11

The goal of Micrfosoft is to adapt the entire browser interface to the appearance of Windows 11 . However, for now, only a few menus have been updated. More changes will be coming in future updates to the Canary branch of the browser.

Most of the changes that we will find are very subtle, and if we do not pay attention they can be overlooked. For example, we can find a change in the tones of the dark mode, as well as in the brightness of the font.

The browser options menu has also been redesigned. Item spacing has been reduced to maintain the same spacing as Windows 11 menu items, and selections, “hover,” now have rounded corners.

Microsoft is also working on a new sharing menu in Edge that will help us make sending websites to other devices, or sharing them on social networks, much easier. This menu is clearly inspired by that of Android and iOS, and it is a more than necessary function that, surely, many of us appreciate.

How to activate the function

The first thing we must do is make sure that we are using version 93.0.945.0 , or any later, of the browser. Otherwise, this option will not be available yet. If so, the next step will be to activate the new design manually, since it is deactivated by default. To do this, we simply have to write the following in the taskbar:

edge://flags/#edge-pc-ui-integration

We mark this option as “Enabled” and we restart the browser. Clever. Now we can see how the Edge menus are adapted to the new Windows 11 interface. It is not necessary to be using Microsoft’s new operating system to be able to enjoy these visual improvements.
