DC Extended Universe: How to Watch Movies in Correct Order

DC Extended Universe: How to Watch Movies in Correct Order

As with Marvel, DC superhero movies have millions of fans around the world and more and more are added to them every day. Users who arrive at a “saga” of films, with different main and secondary stories, which have links between them that lose a bit of meaning if we see them at random. Whether you have just arrived in this saga or if you want to see them again learning all the details, today we explain what is the correct order to see all the films of the DC extended universe .

The “less correct” order: premieres

To say that following or watching the films in this series based on their release year is the wrong order would be something too drastic. It may be that if you decide to see them according to this criterion, you will not be able to easily link certain details that unite them but, even so, if you pay attention and have a good memory you could get it.

It is important that you keep in mind that the order of these films that you will see below is part of those films that came to light from 2013 , that is, according to the official DCEU (DC Extended Universe) with the “restart” of the story of Superman. But, obviously, there are movies of this super before today.

The classification that remains after organizing the films by the year in which they were released is as follows:

  • Man of Steel (June 14, 2013)
  • Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25, 2016)
  • Suicide Squad (March 25, 2016)
  • Wonder Woman (June 2, 2017)
  • Justice League (November 17, 2017)
  • Aquaman (December 21, 2018)
  • Shazam! (March 15, 2019)
  • Joker (October 4, 2019)
  • Birds of Prey (February 7, 2020)

Films yet to be released from the DC universe

Following a criterion similar to the previous one, and with some of the dates yet to be officially specified, the list of films that have yet to be released are:

  • Suicide Squad 2 (2021)
  • Wonder Woman 1984 (2021)
  • Flash (2022)
  • Aquaman 2 (2022)
  • Batman (2021)
  • Shazam !: Fury of the Gods (2023)
  • Justice League 2 (unconfirmed)
  • Black Adam (unconfirmed)
  • Green Lantern Corps (unconfirmed)
  • Justice League Dark (unconfirmed)

This is the list of films that have a date or, at least, rumors have already begun to speculate about them. As these titles change and present new official dates, we will update them so that you are always aware of all the news from the DC universe.

The “most correct” order: chronological

But of course, if you want to link all the ideas, details and events in the simplest way in this extensive catalog of films, it is best to follow the chronological order . Based on the events and times in which all these films in the DC universe are set, the chronological order (taking into account those films already released ) would be as follows:

  • Wonder Woman: Available on HBO.
  • Jocker : This is a standalone DCEU movie though. This title is available on the Movistar + streaming service.
  • Aquaman Prologue: We can see the full movie on HBO.
  • Man of Steel : this film is available on the Netflix, HBO, Prime Video and Movistar + platforms.
  • “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” : on this occasion, we can only enjoy it on the Movistar + streaming service.
  • Suicide Squad : repeating service like many other DC movies, we can see it on HBO.
  • Justice League – Available exclusively on HBO.
  • Aquaman : continuation of the story after the prologue.
  • Shazam! : we can find it in Movistar +.
  • Birds of prey : this title, in which we see the independence of Harley Quinn, does not specify in much detail the moment in which it takes place. But, seeing the separation of this character from the Joker, it surely took place after the Suicide Squad. It is available at Movistar +.
