Philips Hue devices will stop working with Nest devices. Both companies will lose the integration that they have enjoyed so far from next November 17. So if you are users of both, this is the reason why it will happen.
Why would Philips Hue devices stop working with Nest devices

As announced by Philips through its own blog and through a notification that its users have been receiving through the official application, on November 17 the Philips Hue and Nest devices will no longer work together.
That means that from that day on, any possible routine that you have automated will not be executed. The reason? The transition that Google began about a year ago and that would take its platform for connected devices from Works with Nest to Works with Hey Google.
This change is designed to offer a better user experience to all who use Google’s voice assistant. What’s more, Google Assistant becomes practically the center and base of the new platform.
Fortunately, this interruption of service or integration between both devices will be only temporary. Philips is already working with Google to find a solution as soon as possible, although at the moment it has not been specified when this will happen. It may take more or less time depending on how the whole development progresses. So for the moment we will have to be patient.
What to do if my Philips Hue no longer integrates with Nest devices

If you are a user affected by this incompatibility between Philips Hue and Nest devices, what can you do until the integration is restored? Well, there are two options. The first and not optimal is to change the platform. For example, resorting to Alexa or HomeKit, but as we say it is not attractive at all due to the outlay involved. Although then for options it is true that betting on Amazon should not be something to rule out.
The second is to find a way to recover those routines that you already had. For example, you can use the official Philips application to take advantage of options such as those that allow you to set automatic on and off according to what hours.
And if what you are looking for is control, you only need to have added them to Google Assistant and you can continue to use Nest devices to connect with Google’s voice assistant and execute each command. To link your Philips bulbs to Google Home you just have to perform the following steps:
- Open the Google Home app on your smartphone
- Tap the Add icon
- Next, click Configure device
- Hit Works with Google
- Select Philips Hue
- Connect your account and give permission
Ready, from now on, when you say “Ok Google, …” you will be able to give the appropriate order to your Nest device so that Philips smart lighting solutions respond to your requests.
