CORSAIR K100 AIR, a mechanical keyboard thinner than the iPhone 14

At this point, we are all aware of the great advantages that a keyboard specifically designed for gaming can provide us, but that does not mean that some people do not use the keyboard exclusively to play games; When you use the keyboard for many hours a day, every day, you often prefer a low profile to reduce the effort of typing, but unfortunately there are not many models with these features on the market. Aware of this, CORSAIR has just introduced the new K100 AIR Wireless , a Premium range mechanical keyboard that boasts of being the thinnest in its history.

This is CORSAIR’s thinnest mechanical keyboard ever, measuring just 11mm at its thinnest, making it the world’s thinnest mechanical switch keyboard (even thinner than Logitech’s G915, which has 22mm). mm high), and in fact it’s even slimmer than many scissor-switch keyboards. If we compare it with the new iPhone 14 (which measures 7.85 mm at its thinnest part, but 12.02 mm at its thickest part, that of the cameras), its thickness is certainly comparable.

As we said, CORSAIR has made this keyboard thinking of users who want to keep the benefits of mechanical keyboards, but without the discomfort of having to press almost half a centimeter of travel. To do this, the American manufacturer has made use of the new CHERRY MX Ultra Low Profile mechanical switches, which, as their name suggests, are even thinner than the Low Profile switches they had until now and which CORSAIR already mounted on models such as the K70 RapidFire RGB LP .

In addition to being a mechanical keyboard, the CORSAIR K100 AIR is a wireless keyboard, which naturally incorporates proprietary CORSAIR AXON technology with low latency and 8,000 Hz polling frequency (this is via USB cable and only for PC and Mac). In addition, we can use it wirelessly on PC and Mac with SLIPSTREAM Wireless technology, as well as with Bluetooth low energy, and according to the manufacturer, the keyboard can be linked with PC, laptop and tablets indistinctly and easily switch between them with just press a key. In addition, the connection is encrypted by a 128-bit AES algorithm.

Other than that, the K100 AIR features 4 macro keys (above the number pad) configurable with CORSAIR iCUE software, 8MB of onboard storage to store up to 50 key mapping and lighting profiles, and of course how we finished to mention, it is a keyboard with RGB lighting configurable independently per key.

Finally, according to the manufacturer, this keyboard provides up to 50 hours of autonomy if we use the lighting, or up to 200 hours if we turn it off completely, so we could be using it for weeks without having to charge the battery.

Price and availability

CORSAIR has announced that the new K100 AIR WIRELESS will be available from October 4, 2022, but they have not indicated the price. However, seeing the trajectory and trend of the manufacturer in terms of the price of its peripherals, we can guess that it will easily be around 200 Euros. By the way, the manufacturer has already told us that he is going to send us a sample for review, so very soon we will be able to tell you what it is like and how it works first-hand.
