The Chinese firm Realme, which is to Oppo what Redmi is to Xiaomi, is launching a multitude of new devices in all ranges, although mainly in the average. In the highest of these we now have the Realme 3 , a mobile that arrives to offer without a doubt many improvements compared to its predecessor, the Realme 2 , and which we review below.
Two phones that differ quite a bit, and some of these differences are not well understood. But we are going to review them to see to what extent one model improves the other.
Screen and dimensions
Here we find the first important differences, starting with the size of the screen, which is larger in the new Realme X3, which has a 6.6-inch and has Full HD + resolution , it also has a huge 120Hz refresh rate , something very differential. It also has a double screen hole, in the shape of a pill.
For its part, the Realme X2 offers us a somewhat smaller screen, with a notch in the form of a drop of water, there is no special refresh rate, but in its favor it does have a Super AMOLED screen, somewhat smaller than 6.4 inches and with Full HD + resolution. This also has a fingerprint reader on the screen , so each of these screens has points in its favor.
Here are important differences too, because the X3 features a powerful Snapdragon 855+ , the top of the range for the second half of 2019, as well as 6GB or 8GB RAM and storage of up to 128GB.
For its part, the X2 has a powerful mid-range processor, such as the Snapdragon 730G , and also offers 4GB, 6GB and 8GB of RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, in the X3 without the possibility of expanding with a card While the X2 does have this card slot.
Here there are also important differences, although they both have four rear cameras , the resolution of these and their type is different. In the case of the Realme X3 we have four 64-megapixel sensors, 12-megapixel telephoto with 2x optical zoom, one 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and one macro 2-megapixel. In front it has two cameras with sensors of 16 megapixels and 8 megapixels.
In the case of the Realme X2, the camera also has a 64-megapixel main sensor, and is accompanied by 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, 2-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel depth. While in front there are also important changes, with a dual selfi camera on the X3 with 16 and 8 megapixel sensors, while on the X2 it has a single 32 megapixel sensor.
Battery, software and connectivity
Perhaps one of the most even aspects of both phones, that of the battery. Because the X3 has 4200mAh , while the X2 has a 4000mAh. On the other hand, there is maximum equality in fast charging, which is 30W.
Both have a USB type connector, bluetooth 5.0, NFC connectivity to make mobile payments, and only in the case of the X3 the fingerprint reader is integrated on the side, on the power button, and not on the screen as in the case of the X2. Regarding software, the new X3 comes with Realme UI based on Android 10 , while the X2 did with Android 9, but it has already been updated to version 10.
Price and conclusion
Keep in mind that the Realme X3 is not for sale in Spain yet, it was presented this week in India, although its price there has been around 300 or 350 euros . In the case of the X2 it has moved at that price, and now it is difficult to find it in Spain.
If we compare characteristics, it is evident that the X3 wins the game in power, refresh rate, cameras and partly the battery. The only aspect the X2 stands out for is its Super AMOLED display with on-screen fingerprint reader. Therefore, the X3 is a great evolution , but not so much for some specific aspects in which it disappoints a bit and represents a setback.
