Comparison between the OnePlus 8T vs the Realme X50 Pro

The high-end range offers us more and more diversity and possibilities, in addition to a much tighter price than what happened years ago. Two brands that allow this are OnePlus and Realme, which have well-equipped terminals with good results, such as the OnePlus 8T and Realme X50 Pro that we are going to compare on this occasion.

They are smartphones that do not lack practically anything and that as we will see in their equipment and price they offer us a difficult relationship to improve. To make the decision easier for you, we will take everything into account and finally we will give you our own conclusions about the option that best suits you.

Current designs and differentiated screens

We can see that both smartphones offer an attractive design on the outside, in the case of the OnePlus 8T made of aluminum alloy and glass, accompanied by a rear module in the upper left rectangular corner. On the side of the more powerful Realme X50, we come across a polycarbonate and glass finish that also stands out on its own, with a completely vertical camera model. Finding an important similarity since neither of them has water resistance.

The screens let us see a differentiated front hole, OnePlus with a single lens and the Realme X50 Pro with a double one. Its dimensions change too, with 6.55 inches and 6.44 inches Amoled for OnePlus and Realme correspondingly . The refresh rate is higher in OnePlus with 120 Hz, compared to 90 Hz of Realme, also in the tactile response of 240 and 180 Hz. Both are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, against bumps and scratches, as well as HDR10 + .

Identical power and variety of options

Another relevant point and in which we find similarities is in the chip that is responsible for moving everything, they share the Snapdragon 865 together with the Qualcomm Adreno 650 GPU. However, although they have the maximum power we also have to look at their options . Mentioning that neither of the two allows you to expand your space with a MicroSD.

OnePlus 8T

First of all, the data sheet of the OnePlus 8T leaves us two options of 8 or 12 GB of RAM along with 128 or 256 GB. On the part of Realme the variety is greater, finding us with 8 GB + 128 or 256 GB and an option of 12 GB + 256 GB.

The cameras as a differentiating point

Mobile photography is a very important section when choosing a new mobile phone and in this case we are dealing with two good exponents. First of all we know the main lens, where the 64 Mpx of the Realme X50 Pro passes over OnePlus with its 48 Mpx, although both cases leave a good result. We continue with the wide angle, where with different techniques they offer acceptable results in both cases. OnePlus has 16 Mpx here and Realme 8 Mpx that it also takes advantage of as a macro.

We continue with a third 2 Mpx black and white lens for both that allows to improve the portrait and add more information to the images. Finally, the macro from OnePlus and a 13 Mpx telephoto sensor for Realme with which it allows a 20x hybrid zoom , with which OnePlus cannot compete. On the front, Realme’s selfie cameras win again with 32MP and an 8MP secondary lens and an ultra-wide angle for group selfies. Meanwhile the OnePlus 8T has 16 Mpx.

Your video recording capabilities include only Optical Image Stabilization on the OnePlus 8T, with the following options for both:

OnePlus 8T:

  • 4K at 30 / 60fps
  • 1080p at 30 / 60fps
  • 720p at 30fps
  • Slow motion video: 480 fps

Realme X50 Pro:

  • 4K at 30 / 60fps
  • 1080p at 30 / 60fps
  • 720p at 30fps
  • Slow motion recording: 960 fps

Batteries and connectivity war

Another point in which few buts we can put is in the connectivity, since they offer us 4G and 5G to navigate at maximum speed. Of course they offer us GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo. As well as NFC technology for mobile payments on both mobiles and Bluetooth 5.1 LE. Only the OnePlus 8T is dual SIM, Realme only allows one SIM card.

The cells of both phones are large, although the 4,500 mAh of the OnePlus beats the 4,200 mAh of the Realme . They tie in fast charging with 65W of power with charger included in the box. In neither case does it offer wireless charging or reverse charging.

Updates a day

We have to greatly value the updates and in this case we are facing two terminals that already have Android 11 and its latest layer of customization. OnePlus with OxygenOS 11, which is one of the fastest and lightest that we can find, being very easy to use and light, as well as customizable. On the other hand, Realme also has Realme UI 2.0, an improved version that also offers possibilities and does not go unnoticed due to its many possibilities.

Prices and purchase recommendation

There comes a key moment, where the prices of both smartphones will tell a lot about the result. OnePlus offers us its version with 128 GB + 8 GB for about 570 euros. Meanwhile, the same configuration by Realme can be found for 477 euros, a difference that borders on 100 euros and will make us think about it a lot.

In our opinion, the Realme X50 Pro was better prepared than its competitor in camera, being able to stand out worse on the pro screen at the refresh rate or on battery for that small plus, but the price is very important and that value makes us choose the Realme X50 Pro as the current favorite and most successful option. If there are no problems in the investment, the OnePlus 8T can also be a success.
