Comparison between Moto G 5g Plus and OnePlus Nord

In the search for the ideal mobile for our pocket with 5G technology there are more and more options, but two of the most outstanding are undoubtedly those of Motorola and OnePlus. Both the Moto G 5G Plus and the OnePlus Nord integrate inside everything necessary for most users and with great similarities that make us hesitate when buying one of them.

With the intention of making the decision easier between these two models, we are going to compare and find out what is better in the OnePlus model and what is superior in the Moto G 5G Plus. The two models have been presented during the summer of 2020 and little by little they have made a gap with their benefits, but also with their attractive prices.

What layout and screens is better?

In the aesthetic section we can see how both phones have a striking appearance to the naked eye, Motorola’s option with a square-format camera model and in turn OnePlus with a series of vertical cameras. The logo of both brands is located in the same place and in the front the hole on the screen is shared, but different, since Motorola integrates two holes for its front cameras and the cheap OnePlus of 2020 has opted for a hole in capsule format. The two models are based on plastic to manufacture the equipment.

Their screens change drastically and it is one of the first sections where we see a big change. On the one hand, the Moto G 5G Plus includes IPS technology and a larger band of up to 6.7 inches, while the OnePlus is smaller, but offers Amoled technology in its 6.44 inches. In both cases, the pixel density is similar and they also share a refresh rate at 90 Hz.

The same brain

Turning to the processor, we find that they share a Qualcomm processor , specifically the Snapdragon 765. This leaves us in a very similar situation in terms of power, also sharing the Adreno 620 GPU, although with different options from which we can choose, one point where the OnePlus Nord options are more complete starting with 8 GB of RAM along with 128 GB of memory and another with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory.

However Motorola does not want to be left behind and also has 4 or 6 GB of RAM along with 64 or 128 GB of memory. For Motorola’s benefit, only the Moto G 5G Plus allows you to add a MicroSD memory card, an extra that can always come in handy.

Up to six cameras at our service

Adding the rear and front cameras we can be in front of two of the mobiles with more lenses currently. In the main lens they share the 48 Mpx even with the same aperture f / 1.75, followed by a wide angle where the 8 Mpx are also in the hands. The third and fourth lenses are the macro and the depth lens, where OnePlus Nord improves to offer us 5 Mpx in portrait mode, the same as the Moto does with the macro and its 5 Mpx.

OnePlus Nord

We give way to the front cameras, where in selfies the OnePlus Nord is the winner thanks to the 32 Mpx that, however, are not far from Motorola with the 16 Mpx. In both cases they add a second 8 Mpx front lens with which wide-angle selfies are achieved. Where there is no rival is in the recording, because the optical stabilizer of the OnePlus Nord surpasses the Moto G 5G Plus that is maintained with electronic stabilizer.

Battery, 5G and connectivity

We come to the battery a very important section considering that you have to combine expenses with 5G and where Motorola does not tire of doing things right. In this regard, the clear winner is Motorola with its 5,000 mAh and 20W fast charge. OnePlus has that it offers a large 30W load that will have certain problems with autonomy when using 5G together with the 4115 mAh. The two include NFC pay for mobile payments, Bluetooth 5.1 and only the Moto’s audio jack input. In the case of Motorola with a reader on the side and in the OnePlus with an on-screen reader.

Android vs OxygenOS

In the software of both models we have Android 10 as the current protagonist, although waiting in both cases for Android 11 to arrive . On the one hand, Motorola opts for a totally clean system, while OnePlus adds its own personalization layer which offers advantages and fluidity in equal measure. We are facing two of the preferred systems for many and more and more with the improvements they make continuously. In both cases we will have updates for at least two years, as this OnePlus Nord does receive the support it deserves.

Prices and purchase recommendation

Before making a final decision, we must know their prices, where the Moto G 5G Plus is cheaper, staying below 300 euros. On the contrary, the OnePlus Nord increases its price to 399 euros, which leaves us a significant difference of 100 euros in its options of 128 GB of memory.

If we have to keep one of the two mobiles, the available budget will be very important. Taking into account that the battery is better in Motorola and that they share sections such as cameras, 5G, connectivity and processor, the best option is to buy the Moto G 5G Plus . But if we really need an Amoled screen with an optical stabilizer to record video, only the OnePlus Nord will be the option, even if it is more expensive.
